<br /> Responding m a question from Mr. Caravati, Mr. Gouldman said the state wants a
<br />ten day holding period.
<br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REORDAINING
<br />SECTIONS 21-26, 21-32, 21-56, 21-58, 21-59, 21-60 AND 21-63 AND ARTICLE II,
<br />CHAPTER 21 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS
<br />AMENDED, RELATING TO PRECIOUS METALS AND GEMS," which was offered
<br />at the May 21st meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, b/h-.
<br />Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None.

<br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
<br /> On motion by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Ms. Joy Johnson, Mr. Dave
<br />Norris, and Mr. Maurice Cox were appointed to the Charlottesville Redevelopment and
<br />Housing Authority by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms.
<br />Richards. Noes: Mr. Toscano. Ms. Johnson and Mr. Norris' terms will expire on June
<br />30, 2004. Mr. Cox's term will expire on June 30, 2002.

<br /> On motion by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Toscano, Mr. Floyd Hurt was
<br />reappointed to a four-year term on the Piedmont Virginia Community College Board by
<br />the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr.
<br />Toscano. Noes: None. This term will expire on June 30, 2005.

<br /> Ms. Richards made a motion to reconsider the vote on the appointments to the
<br /> Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Mr. ToscanO seconded the
<br /> motion, and it was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr.
<br /> Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Toscano. Noes: None.
<br /> The appointments of Ms. Joy Johnson, Mr. Dave Norris, and Mr. Maurice Cox to

<br /> Mr. Cox said he circulated a proposal from Ken Schwartz for the Venable/
<br /> Barracks Road area and he hopes we can act swiftly on the proposal.
<br /> Mr. Caravati said that Council needs to indicate their support before action can be
<br /> taken on the proposal. He said he also thinks Council needs to hear from others who
<br /> were asked to participate, and said a procurement process may need to be followed.
