Absent: Mr. Toscano <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: CONSENTING TO CITY MANAGER'S APPOINTMENT OF CITY <br />ATTORNEY <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Lynch, the resolution Consenting to the <br />City Manager's Appointment of S. Craig Brown as City Attorney was approved by the <br />following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards. Noes: None. <br />Absent: Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED pursuant to Section 2-211 of the City Code, at~er <br />consultation with the City Manager, this Council hereby consents to the City Manager's <br />appointment of S, Craig Brown as City Attorney for the City of Charlottesville, effective <br />July 1, 2001. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Ms. Richards, Council voted (Ayes: Mr. <br />Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Toscano) to <br />meet in closed session for the purpose of conducting interviews for appointments to the <br />City School Board, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Ms. <br />Richards, approved the following certification of closed meeting by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. <br />Toscano. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has convened a closed meeting on this date pursuant <br />to an affirmative recorded vote and in accordance with the provisions of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.344.1 of the Code of Virginia requires a certification by the <br />Council that such closed meeting was conducted in conformity with Virginia !aw; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby certifies <br />that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i). only public business matters lawfully <br />exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the closed <br />meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public business <br />matters as were identified in the motion convening the closed meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />Q journed. <br /> <br />~l/esiden~ ~ '~ <br /> <br /> <br />
