Absent: Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br /> Mr. Art Stowe, Principal of Clark Elementary School, discussed the instructional <br />needs and programs of Clark School students. <br /> <br /> Mr. Harley Miles with the Charlottesville Schools, discussed what the SOL scores <br />represent and reviewed the scores from individual City schools. <br /> <br /> Ms. Attic Dimberg, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, said a gap still remains <br />in SOL scores between black and white students, but the gap is beginning to close ever so <br />slightly. Ms, Dimberg said the Schools still have a long way to go and iris a great <br />challenge for the school system~ <br /> <br /> Mr, Stowe said that the level of poverty is a major factor in achievement. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said it would be beneficial to develop a more de£med sense of levels <br />of poverty within individual schools. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox suggested that some group such as PTOs or churches address the issue. <br /> sid6nt <br /> <br /> <br />
