I82 RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO SIGN QUITCLAIM DEED FOR PROPERTY AT 3RD AND WATER STREETS RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING VICE- MAYOR TO SIGN QUITCLAIM DEED FOR PROPERTY ON RUGBY AVENUE ORDINANCE: REZONING LAND LOCATED AT 1Sth ST., N.W. AND VIRGINIA AVENUE (2nd reading) ORDINANCE: AMENDING SECTION 10-101 RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM MEALS TAX PUBLIC OTHER BUSINESS EXECUTIVE SESSION On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the following resolution was unanimously adopted by Council: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Chariot ~' tes¥~lle, l~hat the Mayor is hereby authori ~ed to execute on behalf of the City the following document, in Quitclaim deed conveyi approximately 182 squa~ located at the corner (Parcel 37.1 Tax Map 2 'orm approved by the City AttorneY: .g a strip of land containing e feet adjacent to property f Third and Water Streets ) Mayor Buck abstained from this issue due to conflict of interest. On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Mr. Conover, the following resolution was unanimously adopted by Council: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that the Vice-Mayor is hereby authorized to executive on behalf of the City the following document, in form approved by the City Attorney: Quitclaim deed conveying a strip of land containing approximately 1697 square feet adjacent to 1006 Rugby Road (Tax Map 3 Parcel 52) to Anthony C. & Julie V. Gee. The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN SECTION 31-4 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE BY THE REZONING OF A PARCEL OF LAND L~CATED AT THE SOUTHEAST'CORNER OF AVENUE' which was offered at the ~eeting the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Dr. Gunter. None. Absent: Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Hall. 1STH STREET, NW.W. AND VIRGINIA of January 3rd was adopted by Noes: Roger Wiley, City Attorney stated the meals tax ordinance did not discuss concessions and movie theaters. He stated that theater operations are requesting exemption for the items they sell. Mr. Wiley stated that those items are not in direct competition with restaurants, and are more similar to vending machines. He continued, stating that there is adequate legal basis for exemption, but that the City does not have an obligation. On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Mr. Buck, the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 10-101 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RE%ATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM THE TAX ON / MEALS" was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. There were no matters from the public at this time. Council set January 31st as ~he date for a work session with the Task Force on Day Care.
