JOHNSTON, ON BEHALF OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND RE- <br /> QUESTED EXEMPTION FROM THE LICENSE TAX ON A CIRCUS ON MAY 17, 1971 TO BE SPONSORED BY THE <br /> LEGION. THE CITY ATTORNEY ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT UNDER THE PRESENT ORDINANCE THIS PROJECT <br /> DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR EXEMPTION. ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS~ SECONDED BY MR. FIFE,. THE FOREGOING <br /> REQUEST WAS DENIED. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM MR. CHARLES M. ROTGIN, JR. REQUESTING UTILITIES TO <br /> SERVE A PROPOSED APARTMENT PROJECT AT HYDRAULIC AND GEORGETOWN ROADS. THE CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED THAT WATER AND SEWER BE GRANTED, PROVIDED, THE COUNTY HAS NO OBJECTIONS, AND <br /> GAS BE GRANTED FOR PHASE 1. ON MOTION BY MR. BARBOUR, SECONDED BY MR. FIFE, THE CITY <br /> MANAGERtS RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A REQUEST FOR REZONING AT 101 AND 106 MAURY AVENUE WAS REFERRED TO THE PLANNING <br /> <br /> COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> MR. JACK HORN~ CHAIRMAN OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND STATED <br /> <br /> THAT THE PLANNING COHMISSlON RECOMMENDS THAT PRESTON AVENUE BE CONSTRUCTED FOUR LANES WITH <br /> <br /> A 16t MEDIAN STRIP AND LEFT TURN LANES~ AND THAT RIGHT-OF-WAY BE ACQUIRED ONLY TO ACCOMMODATE <br /> THE FOUR LANES. THE CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED THAT THE RIGHT-OF-WAY BE ACQUIRED FOR SIX LANES~ <br /> BUT THAT ONLY FOUR LANES BE CONSTRUCTED AT THIS TIME.
