ABSENT: NONE. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED '~N ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAtN SECTION t8-33 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CNARLOTTESV1LLE~ 1965~ RELATING TO MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM SPEED LIM1TS~ ETC.~" <br /> <br />WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE'COUNCIL ON APRIL 2~ 1973 WAS ADOPTED BY THE <br />FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE. AYES: MR. BARBOUR~ MRI FIFE~ MR. GILLIAM~ MRS, RINEHART AND <br />MR. VAN YAHRES,' NOES: NONE. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART~ SECONDED BY MR. GILLIAM IT WAS UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED <br />THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE ENDORSES THE PROPOSED PROJECT TO ENLARGE <br />THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE HEALTH DEPARTMENT BUILDING AND WILL PROVIDE UP ~102,000.00 <br />AS ITS SHARE OF THE COST OF THE PROJECT AND WHEN IT IS APPROVED FOR ~UNDING UNDER THE <br />HILL-BURTON PROGRAM. <br /> <br /> A HEARING WAS HELD'ON THIS DATE ON PROPOSED iMPROVEMENT TO WEST MAIN STREET AND <br /> UNIVERSITY AVENUE. MR. HUGO MALANGA) TRAFFIC ENGINEER~ EXPLAINED THE PROPOSED PLAN AND <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS. <br /> <br /> I. REMOVAl OF ALL CURB PARKING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A FOUR LANE WEST MAIN STREET <br />BETWEEN RIDGE STREET AND JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE. <br /> <br /> ~. REMOVAL OF THE 9TH - i0TH STREET JOG AND UP GRADING OF 9TH STREET FROM WEST <br />MAIN STREET TO CHERRY AVENUE, ESTABLISHMENT OF TWO PBULIC PARKING LOTS ON WEST MAIN <br />STREET. <br /> <br />3. REMOVAL Of PARKING AND IMPLEMENTATION Of THE THREE LANE PROPOSAL FOR UNIVERSITY <br />AVENUE. <br /> <br /> CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 13TH STREET TO CONNECT JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE WITH I~TH <br /> <br />STREET AND A NEW CONNECTOR BETWEEN ELLiWOOD AVENUE AND CHANCELLOR STREET. <br />A NUMBEB OF PEOPLE ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL MOSTLY IN FAVOR OF tHE PROJECT. THE MERCHANTS <br />AT THE CORNER URGENTLY REQUESTED t~ t THE PARKING REMOVAL FROM THE STREET BE REPLACED WITH <br />OFF-STREET PARKING. <br /> <br /> <br />
