A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR. LEE THAT A <br /> SYNOPSIS OF THESE BUDGETS BE PUBLISHED AS REQUIRED BY SECTION ]9 of THE CItY <br /> CHARTER~ AND THAT THURSDAY~ APRIL 16~ 1964 AT 7:30 P. M. AT CITY HALL BE SET <br /> AS THE TIME AND PLACE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING ON SAID BUDGETS~ WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br /> ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FOR IHPOSING AND COLLECTING LICENSES AND <br /> <br /> TAXES FOR THE EXERCISE OF CERTA'IN~PRI:~VlLEGES WITHIN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR <br /> TWELVE MONTHS~ COHMENCING THE FIRST DAY OF MAY, ]964 AND ENDING THE THIRTIETH DAY <br /> <br /> OF APRIL, 1965"~ WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON MARCH ]6, 1964, <br /> WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. HAGGERTY~ MR. LEE~ MR. MOUNT~ <br /> MR. PONTON AND MR. SCRIBNER. NOES: NONE. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED F~m MR. CLAUDE JESSUP~ PRESIDENT OF THE C & A <br /> Bus COMPANY STATING THAT THE BUS COMPANY HAD BEEN SOLD TO MR. O. T. GRAVES AND <br /> REQUESTING TO BE RELIEVED OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OPERATING THE BUS LINE AT <br /> THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE TIME. A COMMUNICATION WAS ALSO PRESENTED FROM HR. GRAVES <br /> REQUESTING OPERATING AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE LOCAL BUS SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY. THE <br /> CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED THAT THE FOREGOING REQUESTS BE GRANTED AND THAT A COMMITTEE <br /> BE APPOINTED TO FORMULATE REGULATIONS TO BE INCORPORATED IN A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING <br /> THE USE OF THE CITY STREETS FOR BUS OPERATION. THE MAYOR APPOINTED MR. SCRIBNER~ <br /> MR. PONTON~ HIMSELF~ THE CITY ATTORNEY AND THE CITY MANAGER TO THIS COMMITTEE. <br /> <br /> ON MOT'ION BY MR. MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MR. LEE~ THE DOGWOOD FESTIVAL WAS GRANTED <br /> PERMISSION TO HAVE AMUSEMENT RIDES AT MCINTIRE PARK FROM APRIL ]TTH THROUGH THE 25TH <br /> AND THE FESTIVAL WAS DECLARED A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION UNDER SECTION 9](E) OF THE <br /> LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE.
