THE REGULATION REMAIN AS IS, AND THAT THE MATTER OF HARDSHIP CASES BE <br />AGAIN CONSIDERED IF AND WHEN GAS BECOMES AVAILABLE WAS VOTED ON AS FOLLOWS: <br />AYES: MR. TEBELL AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: MR. FORBES AND MR. HILL. (MR. <br />DAVIS NOT VOTING). <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THAT SNOWS NURSERY HAD AGREED TO SELL TO THE <br />CITY TWELVE FEET (12') OF THE REAR OF THEIR PROPERTY ON FIRST STREET, AT A <br />PROPERTY FROM SNOWS <br />NURSERY — PARKING LOT PRICE OF SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($750.00), AND THAT THIS PROPERTY WAS <br />NECESSARY FOR THE ORDERLY DEVELOPMENT OF THE WATER STREET PARKING LOT. ON <br />MOTION BY MR. FORBES, SECONDED BY MR. TEBELL, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />APPROPRIATION — PROPERTY <br />FIRST STREET THAT THE SUM OF $750.00 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FOR <br />THE PROPERTY ON FIRST STREET IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOREGOING <br />RECOMMENDATION, <br />ON MOTION BY MR. TEBELL, SECONDED BY MR. FORBES, THE CITY MANAGER WAS <br />MATTER RE: HOUSES FOR REQUESTED TO HAVE THE ASSESSMENT BOARD APPRAISE THE TWO HOUSES WHICH ARE <br />SALE ON LONG STREET <br />FOR SALE ON LONG STREET, AND TO REQUEST MR. ROSS OF THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT <br />TO MEET WITH THE COUNCIL TO DETERMINE METHOD, PRICE, ETC. FOR PLACING THESE <br />HOUSES ON THE MARKET FOR SALE. <br />THE CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED THAT THE HOUSE LOCATED ON THE DR. SMITH <br />MATTER RE: HOUSE ON PROPERTY, WHICH WAS ACQUIRED FOR THE x#250 DISTRIBUTION ROAD, BE DEMOLISHED <br />DR. SMITH PROPERTY <br />SINCE THE HOUSE WAS LOCATED VERY CLOSE TO THE NEW ROAD. ON MOTION BY MR. <br />TEBELL, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />APPROVED. <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />~ CLERK 77 PRESI ENT r ~ <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - OCTOBER 19, 1953 <br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE FOLLOWING <br />MEMPERS PRESENT: MR. FORBES, MR. HILL, MR. TEBELL AND MR. WEINBERG. <br />ABSENT: MR. DAVIS. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF OCTOBER 5, 1953 WERE <br />READ AND APPROVED. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED AND TWO PEOPLE APPEARED BEFORE THE <br />REQUEST DENIED: GAS SPACE COUNCIL REQUESTING SPECIAL PERMISSION FOR GAS SPACE HEATING. THE MAYOR <br />HEATING <br />EXPLAINED TO THESE PEOPLE THAT UNDER THE PRESENT REGULATION -THE "OUNCIL a <br />COULD NOT GRANT THEIR REQUEST. <br />A GROUP OF CITIZENS APPEARED BEFORE THE COUNCIL REQUESTING PER14IS51ON <br />REQUEST GRANTED RE: TO ERECT A NATIVITY SCENE IN LEE PARK DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, AND ALSO, <br />NATIVITY SCENE—LEE, PARK <br />REQUESTED PERMISSION TO USE LIVE SHEEP IN THIS SCENE. ON MOTION BY MR. <br />FORBES, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THIS REQUEST WAS UNANIMOUSLY GRANTED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. TEBELL, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOLLOWING COUNTY <br />WATER APPLICATIONS WERE APPROVED: <br />COUNTY WATER CONNECTIONS JAMES F. BISHOP BELLAIR <br />APPROVED L. M. NORFORD PALATINE AND CREEN STREETS <br />PEYTON G.
