COLEMAN, THE SALARIES ANO EXPENSES <br />OF CITY-STATE OFFICES FOR THE YEAR 1957 WERE APPROVED AS FIXED BY THE COMPENSATION <br />BOARD. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD OUTLINING PLANS FOR THE <br />REQUEST FROM SCHOOL BD. RE: <br />PLANS FOR EXPANSION OF <br />SCHOOLS APRROVED. <br />WELFARE REPORT PRESENTED. <br />EXPANSION OF JEFFERSON, BURNLEY-MORAN, CLARK AND JOHNSON SCHOOLS, ANO REQUESTING <br />THAT THEY BE AUTHORIZED TO HAVE FINAL PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS PREPARED FOR THESE <br />PROJECTS. ON MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOREGOING REQUEST <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. <br />THE WELFARE REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 1956, WAS PRESENTED AND <br />ORDERED FILED WITH THE MINUTES OF THIS MEETING. <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />~, <br />~. MICHIE AND MR. WEINBERG. ABSENT: NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 17, 1956 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE MOTION OF THE COUNCIL TO AMEND ANO RE-ENACT SECTION 23 <br />PUBLIC HEARING RE: <br />ZONING ORDINANCE <br />OF CHAPTER 33 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY, RELATING TO THE BOARD OF ZONING <br />APPEALS, WAS HELD ON THIS DATE PURSUANT TO NOTICE DULY PUBLISHED. A COMMUNICATION <br />FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING THE ABOVE CHANGE WAS PRESENTED. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND RE-ENACTING SECTION ~3 OF <br />ORDINANCE RE: CH. 33, <br />SEC. 21 CARRIED OVER <br />CHAPTER 33 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED 'BOARD <br />OF ZONING APPEALS; COST OF APPEALS' ", WAS OFFERED BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY <br />MR. FROM MAIN ST. TO REAR <br />ENTRA6C£ OF UNIV. HDSP. APPROVED <br />AVENUE ON THE WEST SIDE FROM MAIN STREET TO THE REAR ENTRANCE TO THE UNIVERSITY <br />HOSPITAL. HE STATED THAT HE HAD DISCUSSED THIS MATTER WITH MR. DARDEN OF THE <br />UNIVERSITY, AND THAT MR. DARDEN FAVORED THE PROPOSAL AND STATED THAT IF THE COUNCIL <br />WAS WILLING TO UNDERTAKE THE PROJECT, HE WOULD RECOMMEND IT FAVORABLY TO THE BOARD <br />OF VISITORS. MR. BOWEN STATED THAT THE PROJECT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $20,000.00 <br />
