ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER, THE <br />CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED TO OBTAIN COST ESTIMATES ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF <br />THIS PLAYGROUND. <br />ON MOTION BY MR, DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER, THE FOLLOWING RESOlUT10N <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED; <br />BE iT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />APPROPRIATIONS UTILITY LINES <br />CENTER AVE. THAT $747,04 8E AND THE SAME IS HERBY APPROPRIATED FOR THE CITY~S <br />SHARE OF THE COST OF UTILITY LINES IN CF_NTER AVENUE. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR, DAVIS, THE COUNCIL VOTED TO GO <br />INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION 8Y THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. COLEMAN, <br />MR. DAVIS, MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. 1n/ERNBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT A GAS REGULATOR STATION !S <br />MATTER RE: REGULATOR STATION NEEDED IN THE BELMONT SECTION. MR. BOWEN STATED THAT A SUI-TABLE PIECE OF <br />BELMONT SECTION. <br />PROPERTY AT THE CORNER OF ELLIOTT AVENUE AND AVON STREET COULD BE PURCHASED <br />FOR $2,500.00, AND RECOMMENDED THAT THIS LAND BE PURCHASED. ON MOTION BY <br />MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED; <br />APPROPRIATIONS PROPERTY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TH'E CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />CDR. ELLIOTT AVE. ANO AVON ST. <br />THAT 2,500.00 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION. <br />THE CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED THAT MR. ELMER F. DUDLEY, AGE 78, WHO WAS <br />EMPLOYED BY THE CITY IN MARCH, 1929, AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO DEPUTY CITY SER- <br />MATTER RE: RETIREMENT GEANT ON JANUARY 1, 1942, BE RETIRED SINCE HE HAD BECOME UNABLE TO CONTINUE <br />E. F. DUDLEY <br />TO WORK, AND THAT HE BE PAID A PENSION OF 49.90 PER MONTH EFFECTIVE <br />JANUARY 1, 1959. THIS AMOUNT IS ARRIVED AT BY TAKING ONE-HALF OF HIS SALARY <br />AND ALLOWANCES AMOUNTING TO $250.00 PER MONTH, MINUS SOCIAL SECURITY OF 75.10, <br />LEAVING A DIFFERENCE OF 49.90. ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY <br />MR. COLEMAN, THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, MR. W. A. BARKSDALE <br />MEMBERS REAPPOINTED AND MR. EDWARD VANLAER WERE REAPPOINTED 70 THE BUILDING CODE REVIEW BOARD <br />BUILDING CODE REVIEW BOARD <br />FOR A FOUR YEAR TERM, EXPIRING JANUARY 1, 1963, AND MR. JOHN N.
