WEINBERG• NOES: NONE. <br />THE MAYOR AND THE CITY MANAGER EXPRESSED THANKS TO MR.BATTLE FOR HIS <br />CITY ATTORNEY RECOMMENDS <br />FULL TIME CITY ATTORNEY <br />SERVICE AND COOPERATION DURING HIS TENURE OF OFFICE. <br />MR. BATTLE THEN SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY ATTORNEY SHOULD BE A FULL TIME <br />EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY WITH AN OFFICE iN THE CITY HALL, SINCE THE WORK IN THAT <br />DEPARTMENT HAD GROWN TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT A PART TIME CITY ATTORNEY COULD <br />NOT GIVE PROPER ATTENTION TO ALL OF THE LEGAL BUSINESS OF THE CITY. THE CITY <br />MANAGER ALSO SUGGESTED THAT A FULL TIME ATTORNEY BE EMPLOYED. <br />A MOTION BY MR. COLEMAN, SECONDED BY MR. DAViS, THAT MR. PAUL D. SUMMERS, JR. <br />CITY ATTORNEY ELECTED - <br />MR. PAUL D. SUMMERS, JR. <br />EFFECTIVE MARCH 1, 1959 <br />BE ELECTED AS CITY ATTORNEY ON A FULL TIME BASIS EFFECTIVE MARCH 1, 1959, AT <br />A SALARY OF $6,500.00 PER ANNUM, TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF MR. BATTLE, <br />WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: AYES: MR. COLEMAN, MR. DAMS, <br />MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. WEINBERG. COLEMAN, MR. DAM S, MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND <br />MR. WEINBERG. ABSENT; NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF FEBRUARY 2, 1959 AND FEBRUARY 5, 1959 <br />WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />THE CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT MR. PAUL J. BLOCH HAD ACCEPTED THE <br />MATTER RE: STREET LINE <br />NORTH SIDE OF MARKET STREET <br />MR. PAUL J. BLOCH <br />COMPROMISE ESTABLISHING THE STREET LINE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF MARKET STREET <br />BETWEEN SEVENTH AND NINTH STREETS. A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY <br />MR. COLEMAN, THAT THE COMPROMISE LINE BE APPROVED AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT OF <br />THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, DATED FEBRUARY 16, 1959, AND AUTHORIZE THE <br />CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH ACTION IN COURT OR THE MAYOR EXECUTE SUCH DEED <br />AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO MAKE THE COMPROMISE EFFECTIVE, WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED. <br />THE PETITION OF MR. PAUL J. BLOCH REQUESTING PERMISSION TO OPERATE A <br />PERMISSION TO OPERATE <br />FILLING STATION APPROVED <br />FOR MR. PAUL J. BLOCH <br />GASOLINE FILLING STATION AT SEVENTH AND EAST MARKET STREETS WAS AGAIN DISCUSSED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THIS REQUEST WAS GRANTED <br />f's,, ~ ' <br />ON CONDITION THAT THE COMPROMISE STREET LINE IS ACCEPTA6LE,BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE; AYES; MR. COLEMAN, MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. DAMS NOT VOTING . <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CROZET LUMBER COMPANY STATING <br />MATTER RE: REQUEST OF CROZET LUMBER CO. <br />BOND ON LOGGING OPERATION <br />APPOINTMENTS TO BLDG. CODE REVIEW BOARD <br />THAT THEY HAD COMPLETED LOGGING OPERATIONS ON THE RAGGED MOUNTAIN PROPERTY <br />AND REQUESTING THAT THEY BE ALLOWED TO CANCEL THEIR PERFORMANCE BOND. THE <br />CITY MANAGER STATED THAT AN INSPECTION HAD BEEN MADE AND THAT THE LUMBER <br />COMPANY HAD PERFORMED THE OPERATION IN A VERY SATISFACTORY MANNER, HOWEVER, <br />THERE WERE SOME MINOR CORRECTIONS TO BE MADE iN THE SPRING. ON MOTION BY <br />MR. DAM S, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER, THE CITY MANAGER WAS AUTHORIZED TO <br />RELEASE THE PERFORMANCE BOND PROVIDED THE CROZET LUMBER COMPANY WOULD AGREE, <br />BY LETTER, TO PERFORM THE WORK AS OUTLINED IN A LETTER FROM THE FORESTRY <br />DEPARTMENT, DATED FEBRUARY 11, 1959. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. DAM S, MR. RAYMOND V. LONG <br />WAS APPOINTED TO THE BUILDING CODE REVIEW BOARD TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM <br />
