AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OBSTRUCTING OF STREETS DURING THE ERECTION OF BUILDINGS. ADOPTED OCTOBER 13, 1904. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, That in the construction erection or repair of any buildings, walls, fences or other structures along the line of any sidewalk, or abutting thereon, the footway in front of the same shall not be obstructed in any way, but for the protection of persons passing a shed or platform shall be erected over the sidewalk which Shall be at least eight (8) feet high and as wide as the sidewalk and long as the Building ot other structure which is being erected, under which persons may safely walk; Nor shall more than one-fourth (1/4) of the street in front of the lot upon which such Building, wall, fence or other structure is being erected or repaired be obstructed by Building material, provided that wherever, owing to wiring or other obstructions it is Impossible to erect a scaffold without placing pole upon the sidewalk, any contactor May place supporting poles upon the sidewalk, but they shall be so placed as not to Obstruct an unreasonable portion thereof. II. That use of such sidewalk or street shall not be allowed longer than a reason- Able time for the erection of the building, wall, fence or other structure, and thereupon The builder or contractor shall remove the said obstruction, and any damage done to the Said walk or street by such builder or contractor shall be repaired by him. PENALTY. Any person violating this ordinance shall be fined not less than one Dollar ($1.00) nor more than five dollars ($5.00) for each day he shall continue in Default. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, That any person erecting any building or fence Along any street or sidewalk shall, previous to the erection of the same, get a permit From the City Engineer or Street Commissioner, whose duty it shall be to designate and Lay off the line along which said building or fence abutting upon the street or sidewalk Shall be laid. PENALTY. Any person violating the provisions of the ordinance shall be fined not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00). BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, That any person who shall throw glass, broken or Otherwise, or other sharp substances of a dangerous nature upon any street or sidewalk Shall be fined not less than one dollar ($1.00) nor more than ten dollars ($10.00) for Each offense.
