PASSAGE. <br />ALL OTHER CONNECTIONS TO THE CITY'S SEWER LINES, NOT IN THE CITY STREETS, <br />WHETHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE CITY LIMITS, SHALL BE MADE ONLY BY A MASTER <br />PLUMBER AFTER HE HAS SECURED A PROPER PERMIT. <br />ALL CONNECTIONS TO MAINS OF THE CITY SEWERAGE SYSTEM, WHETHER INSIDE OR <br />OUTSIDE OF THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY, SHALL BE MADE ONLY BY THE USE OF <br />A TERRA COTTA SADDLE ON THE LINE OR A TERRA COTTA WYE IN THE LINE, AND ANY <br />PORTION OF THE HOUSE SEWER LINE WITHIN ANY STREET OR ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL <br />BE TERRA COTTA OR CAST IRON, <br />THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE'IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER THE DATE OF ITS <br />CLERK <br />ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 21, 1955 <br />AYES: MR. HILL ABSENT <br />S <br />X -f 17� 11 <br />PRESIDENT <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 17 OF <br />CHAPTER 18 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 <br />ENTITLED "RECKLESS DRIVING". <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT SECTION 17 OF <br />CHAPTER 18 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 ENTITLED "RECKLESS DRIVING" BE AND THE <br />SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED AND REENACTED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 17. RECKLESS DRIVING. <br />(A) IRRESPECTIVE OF THE MAXIMUM SPFEDS HEREIN PROVIDED, ANY PERSON <br />WHO DRIVES A VEHICLE UPON A HIGHWAY RECKLESSLY, OR AT A SPEED OR IN A <br />MANNER SO AS TO ENDANGER LIFE, LIMB OR PROPERTY OF ANY PERSON SHALL BE <br />GUILTY OF RECKLESS DRIVING; PROVIDED, THAT THE DRIVING OF A -MOTOR VEHICLE <br />IN VIOLATION OF ANY SPEED LIMIT PROVISION OF SECTION 18 OF THIS CHAPTER <br />SHALL NOT OF ITSELF CONSTITUTE GROUND FOR PROSECUTION FOR RECKLESS DRIVING <br />UNDER THIS SECTION. <br />(B) ANY PERSON WHO SHALL <br />(1) DRIVE A VEHICLE WHEN NOT UNDER PROPER CONTROL, OR WITH <br />INADEQUATE OR IMPROPERLY ADJUSTED BRAKES UPON ANY HIGHWAY OF THE CITY, OR <br />(2) WHILE DRIVING A VEHICLE, OVERTAKE AND PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE <br />PROCEEDING IN THE SAME DIRECTION, UPON OR APPROACHING THE CREST OF A GRADE <br />OR UPON OR APPROACHING A CURVE IN THE HIGHWAY, WHERE THE DRIVFR'S VIEW ALONG <br />THE HIGHWAY IS OBSTRUCTED, OR <br />(3) PASS OR ATTEMPT TO PASS TWO OTHER VEHICLES ABREAST, MOVING IN <br />THE SAME DIRECTION, OR <br />(4) OVERTAKE OR PASS ANY OTHER VEHICLE PROCEEDING IN THE SAME <br />DIRECTION AT ANY STEAM OR ELECTRIC RAILWAY GRADE CROSSING, OR AT ANY INTERSECTION <br />OF HIGHWAYS, OR WHILE PEDESTRIANS ARE PASSING -OR ABOUT TO PASS IN FRONT OF <br />EITHER OF SUCH VEHICLES, UNLESS PERMITTED SO TO DO BY A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR POLICE <br />OFFICER, OR <br />(5) FAIL TO STOP AT A SCHOOL BUS, WHICH IS PROPERLY IDENTIFIED IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, WHILE TAKING ON <br />OR DISCHARGING SCHOOL CHILDREN, WHETHER GOING IN THE_SAME OR IN THE OPPOSITE <br />DIRECTION AND TO REMAIN STOPPED UNTIL ALL SCHOOL CHILDREN ARE CLEAR OF THE <br />HIGHWAY, OR <br />
