S. Post Office and McIntire Library for conversion to use as Jefferson- <br /> <br />Madison Regional Library. The report concludes that the U. S. Post Office <br /> <br />and McIntire buildings can be adapted to provide an excellent facility for the <br /> <br />Jefferson-Madison Regional Libr. mry and recommended that the post office <br /> <br />structure be acquired for conversion to library use as part of a complex with <br /> <br />Melntire building. The City Manager reminded the Council ~that a bond issue <br /> <br />will be needed to fund the city's share of the cost of this project. On motion by <br /> <br />Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the City Manager was authorized to negotiate <br /> <br />for the purchase of the Downtown Post Office building along with the County <br /> <br />Executive. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Brun~on, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the Mayor was <br /> <br />authorized to sign an agreement with Hantzmon, Wiebel and Company to perform <br /> <br />the Annual Financial Audit for the City. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following resolution <br /> <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has been advised~by the Urban Mass Transportation <br />Administration of the United States Department of Transportation of approval <br />of its application for an amenRe~capital grant under Project No. VA-03-0013, <br />providing for an increase mn the maximum federal contribution to such project <br />of $428,66~.; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and approved said amendment <br />which will aid in financing the purchase of an additional 31-35 passenger bus, <br />the construction of a maintenance facility, the purchase of a portion of the <br />vehicle washing facility and other related equipment; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED.by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that Cole <br />Hendrix, City Manager, be authorized and directed to execute Amendment No. 1 <br />to UMTA capital grant contract for Project No. VA-03-~13 and to take all other <br />actions necessary for securing such federal grant funds in the amended amount <br />in accordance with the revised budget approved for such project. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr.Brunton ~he following resolution was <br /> <br />unan~ou'aly adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2-118 o~ the City Code requires approval of <br />City Council of the purchase of additional types of casualty mr liability <br />insurance coverage; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council has found the purchase of two additional types <br />of insurance coverage to be a'd~isable, now, ~herefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the <br />Council approves the purchase of police professional liability insurance <br />coverage in the amount of $250,000 per person and $500,000 per occurance and <br />the purchase of physical damage insurance coverage on the City bus fleet <br />in the amount of actual cash value less a deductible of $5,000 per occurance, <br />and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and Director of Finance <br />are authorized to approve payment of the premiums of such coverages from the <br />risk management fund provided by Section 2-118 of the City Code. <br /> <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 24-1.1 OF THE <br /> <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, -WHICH IMPOSED A <br /> <br />MORATORIUM ON SANITARY SEWER CONNECTIONS IN THE MOORES CREEK DRAINAGE BASIN," <br /> <br />was offered by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood and carried over to the <br /> <br />next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
