<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Tuesday, January 17, 2006 AT 6:30 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – January 17, 2006 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Schilling, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) to meet in <br />closed session for discussion with a candidate for appointment as Director of Finance, as <br />authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code; discussion or consideration <br />of the disposition of publicly held real property on Valley Road, where discussion in an <br />open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by <br />Section 2-2-3711(A)(3); and consultation with legal counsel regarding the negotiation of <br />a cost sharing agreement with Albemarle County for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations <br />District Court improvement project, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711 (A)(7) of the <br />Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Hamilton, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. <br />Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only <br />public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the <br />Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed <br />session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – January 17, 2006 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he intends to bring up the issue of contamination in Fifeville <br />during other business. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said the Justice Department has given pre-clearance to at-large School <br />Board elections. He said he intends to have a thorough discussion this spring to decide <br />the best system to have. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said that more information on the Meadowcreek Parkway interchange <br />is available on the City’s website. <br /> <br />AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS <br />: RECOGNIZING DELEGATE VAN YAHRES; GFOA <br />FINANCIAL REPORTING AWARD; MENTORING MONTH PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown recognized employees who were responsible for the City receiving the <br />th <br />26 GFOA Financial Reporting award. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown presented the proclamation proclaiming Mentoring Month. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown recognized former Delegate Mitchell Van Yahres for his years of <br />service in the General Assembly, and presented a proclamation to him. <br /> <br /> <br />
