<br /> 75 <br /> <br /> Ms. Peggy Van Yahres, School Board member, said this is the reason the new <br />Superintendent was hired. She said one of the first things the Superintendent is going to <br />do is develop a comprehensive curriculum. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Caravati, Mr. Michie said the Schools are <br />using best practices. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said the high school dropout rate piece is missing, and he would like to <br />see something that specifically addresses that in the budget. <br /> <br /> Mr. Louis Bograd, School Board member, said that is contained in the Strategic <br />Plan. <br /> <br /> Ms. Van Yahres said the School Board needs to get its house in order before <br />beginning new initiatives. She said she thinks we do need to look at alternative <br />programs. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said she feels a real sense of urgency to address these issues. <br /> <br /> Ms. Van Yahres said the School system needs stability in the Superintendent. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said that Council will likely be cutting the tax rate more and this action <br />could impact the amount given to the Schools. <br /> <br /> Ms. Van Yahres said it would be helpful to have a review of agencies that the <br />City funds that can help with some of these issues. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />_____________________________ ____________________________ <br />President Clerk <br />
