2
Mr. Tim Hulbert, 2246 Brandywine Drive, President of the Chamber of
Commerce, said that he personally supports the effort to name some component if not all
of the Meadowcreek Parkway for Senator John Warner.

COUNCIL RESPONSES TO MATTERS BY THE PUBLIC

Dr. Brown said the VSA art show is a wonderful event and he encouraged the
public to attend. He said Ms. Hall made good points about the parking, and he asked Mr.
O’Connell to comment. He thanked Ms. Richards for her hard work to get the train. He
said he supports water conservation, but noted that the community’s water use is going
back up and we should not base our water supply plan on hope. He said he thinks the
Meadowcreek Parkway has had a name for more than 30 years, but he would support
honoring Senator Warner in some other way, perhaps naming the intersection after him.

Mr. Taliaferro said he has no problem honoring Senator Warner, and would
support naming the interchange in his honor. He said we owe him a debt of gratitude.
He said he hopes Mr. O’Connell will look into the issue of parking at the court. He said
he does not think water conservation will solve the whole water supply problem.

Ms. Edwards noted that she will be providing welcoming remarks at the VSA art
show. She said there should be a way to recognize Senator Warner’s contributions to our
community. She said she hopes we can get more diverse people involved in the water
issue.

Mr. Norris agreed that staff should follow up on parking at the court. He said if
we made that commitment we should abide by it. He agreed with Dr. Palmer that the
proposed pipeline makes sense, but he believes we need to raise the bar on water
conservation. He said he looks forward to the study to see what else we can do.

CONSENT AGENDA

Dr. Brown made a motion to approve the consent agenda, and commented that the
special use permit for Oakhurst is an example that listening to the community pays
dividends to the developer. Mr. Taliaferro seconded the motion and the consent agenda
was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Norris, Mr.
Taliaferro. Noes: None.
