OTHER BUSINESS Ms. Daugherty asked Councilors to study the report sent by the Director of Social Services on the General Relief Program since funds for the program are running out and Council will be asked early next year to make a decision about whether to appropriate additional funds to continue the program. On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Council voted to meet in executive session to discuSs appointments to boards and commission as provided by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Code, with Mr. Vandever absent. Council reconvened lin open session and, on motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or considered by the Council. APPOINTMENTS: BO)d~DS AND COMMISSIONS On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Ms. Heather Gay and Mr. Peter Parsons were unanimously reappointed to two-year terms on the Rivanna Solid Waste Advisory Committee. These terms will expire on December 31, 1996. On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Ms. Martha Johnson, Mr. Peter Kratzel, and Ms. Leyonne Yountz were unanimously appointed to four-year terms on the Social Services Advisory Board. These terms will expire on June 30, 1998. On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Mr. Warren Boeschenstein was unanimously reappointed to a three-year term on the Urban Design Committee. This term will expire on July 3 i, 1997. PUBLIC Mr. Baughan Roemer, 11 Altamont Circle, stated that he was saddened to hear that Eric Johnson, Victim Wit~3ess Coordinator in the Commonwealth's Attorney office, will be leaving his job. Mr. Roer ~er stated that Mr. Johnson has _done an outstanding job dealing with victims and thanked him on behalf of the community.
