OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />the City. 3) The City would no longer have control of the operation <br />but would need to oversee it to insure that the job was being done <br />properly. 4) The bidder could initially bid a low rate but could <br />raise it after the contract expired. Because the trucks are so <br />expensive, it would be hard for the City to begin to do the work <br />again once the trucks are sold. Mr. Hendrix stated that a long term <br />contract could possibly b'e negotiated which would protect the City <br />for a few years. <br /> Mr. Edwin Wade, Public Service Chief, Suggested that a comparison <br />be done with refuse collection costs in other cities. He stated he <br />felt investigating the impact on cities who changed from collecting <br />refuse on their own to contracting it out, especially after the initial <br />contract had expired, would be valuable. <br /> Council indicated they would like him to collect this data and <br />report back to them. <br /> Mrs. Gleason reported that at a recent meeting of the Jail Board, <br />Mr. Ira Cortez, Fire Prevention Officer for Albemarle County, expressed <br />great concern over the lack of a sprinkler system at the Joint Security <br />Complex.
