246" <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br />TERMS OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />DEVELOPMENT GROUP <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: <br />MANNIE NORFORD, <br />CITY SHERIFF <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix reported that the ordinance would clarify confusion <br />regarding the terms for the Charlottesville Development Group <br />members. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason moved, Mr. Conover seconded, and the ordinance <br />entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 2-127 OF THE .CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976., SUCH AMENDED SECTION RELATING TO <br />THE TERMS OF MEMBERS OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE DEVELOPMENT GROUP" was <br />carried over to the next meeting. <br /> <br /> There were no matters-by the public. <br /> There was no other business. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Cle~ ---- <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER <br /> <br />President- <br /> <br />Monday, July 18, 1983 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session this date with the following <br />members present: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. <br />Hall. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs~. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Hall, the minutes of <br /> <br /> June 30th were approved as presented, with Dr. Gunter abstaining. <br /> On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the minutes <br /> <br /> of July Sth were approved as presented, with Dr. Gunter abstaining. <br /> <br /> Mr. David Pettit, representing the M & W Land Trust, requested <br /> the conveyance from the City of a small parcel of land adjacent to a <br /> warehouse on Sth Street currently being renovated. <br /> <br /> Mr. BuCk noted that .the value of the 11.4S square'feet of land <br />had been assessed at $40]00. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gary O'COnnell, Assistant City Manager, stated that the <br />City Attorney's office had reviewed the matter and found no problem <br />with ~he sale. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Conover, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, Council <br />unanimously approved the sale of the land to M & W Land Trust. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the <br />City the following document, in form approved by the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> A Quit Claim deed from the~City to David Pettit, <br /> Trustee for M & W Land Trust, conveying parcel <br /> containing 11.4S square feet on South Street adjacent <br /> to City Tax Map Parcel 28-102B for consideration of <br /> $40.O0. ' <br /> <br /> A copy Of such document shall be kept on file with the minutes <br /> of the Council meeting at which this resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> There were no other matters by the public. <br /> <br /> Sheriff Mannie Norford summarized the duties of the City Sheriff's <br />Department. He stated that his Department handles civil matters as the <br />Police Department has no authority in this area. The Sheriff performs <br />as the Circuit Court Officer, serves on the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br />Jail Board, currently serving as the Chairman, and is a member of the <br />Board of Directors of the Sheriff's Association. <br /> <br /> Sheriff Norford praised the following members of his Deoartment: <br />Chief Deputy Kelso, Secretary Myra Bruce, Deputies Michael Estes, David <br />Duncan, Ida Lewis and Steve Shifflett, and part-time Deputy John <br />Nightingale. <br /> <br />The Sheriff's Department handles court cases, keeps a list of <br /> <br /> <br />
