Home Advisory <br /> Board, read a .statement of purpose-and introduced the following Community <br /> <br />Attention. Home staff and Board members: Sue Kaiser, Ruth Wadlington, Rose <br />Farber, Jack Galtaghe'r, Darci Lieb, and Paul McWhinney. <br /> <br /> Mrs. ~RUth Wadlington, Chairman. of the.Community Attention Home <br />Advisory Board Study Committee, presented the report and recommendations <br />to Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Paul McWhinney, Administrator of the Community Attention Homes, <br />stated that he would like to see the CommunitM Attention Home staff re- <br />classified. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: <br />EASTERN <br />VIRGINIA <br />AMBULANCE <br />SERVICES, INC. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br />$8s,000 <br />CHARTER HOUSE <br />GRANT <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br />$5S,000 <br />SOBRIETY <br />CHECKPOINT/ <br />ROADBLOCK <br />PROJECT <br /> <br />Mr.: Hendrix <br />Community Attenti¢ <br /> <br /> Mr. Tom Albrc <br />which has its hea <br /> <br />~mphasized the stressful nature of the work done by the <br />n Home staff and praised their dedication and hard work. <br />, representing Eastern Virginia Ambulance Service, Inc., <br />quarters in Virginia Beach, stated that the Ambulance <br /> <br /> Service was seeking the opportunity, to operate a non-emergency ambulance <br /> service in the Citz. He added that the Eastern Virginia Ambulance Serviee <br /> was willing to operate under Council-imposed regulations. <br /> <br /> Mr. Albro req~ested that Council consider the' request at the next <br /> regular meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix slated that this appropriation would deposit the grant <br /> funds into the pro ~er account. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Gleason loved the $85,000 appropriation for the Charter House <br />Grant, Dr. Gunter econded the motion, and the appropriation was carried <br />over to the next meting. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVE] by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia.that the ~um~of $8S,000 is hereby appropriated from the <br />grants fund to expenditure a~count 11-12240 for operation of a Home <br />for Homeless AlcohOlics during the 1983-1984 fiscal year. Such home <br />shall be operated ~y the Region Ten Division of Alcohol and Substance <br />Abuse under c°ntradt with the City. Such appropriation shall be <br />conditioned upon receipt of $8S,000 from the Virginia Department of <br />Criminal Justice Services, grant number 84-A-6209. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that this appropriation would deposit the <br />federally funded grant in the proper account. These fUnds would be <br />mainly used for over-time pay for policemen inv6lved in checkpoints to <br /> <br />check for drunk drivers. <br /> <br /> Ur. Gunter added that this was a pilot~program which would attract <br />national attention. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: <br />AUTHORIZING <br />SPECIAL PROJECTS <br />FUND FOR REGION <br />10 COMMUNITY <br />SERVIEES BOARD <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall moved~the appropriation of $S5,O00 for the Sobirety Checkpoint/ <br />Roadblock Project, Dz. Gun~er Seconded the motion, and the appropriation <br />was.carried over to the next meeting. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Ci-ty of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that the sum of $SS,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the <br />grants fund to expenditure account 11-25050 for use by the Charlottesville <br />Police Department in a Sobriety Checkpoint/Roadblock program for the <br />period October 1, 19.83 to September 30, 1984. Such appropriation shall <br />be subject to the receipt of a like amount in revenue from a Virginia <br />Division of Motor Vehicles grant, number'AL83-00-0S2. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that~ the Department of Community Develooment had <br />studied alternatives to the special projects fund. No problem was found <br />~ith establishing the special projects fund and staff recommended Council <br /> <br />approve the resolution~ <br /> Mrs. Gleason mlved the resolution Authorizing sPecial'Projects Fund <br />for Region 10 C°mm~nity~Services~Board, Mr. Conover seconded the. motion, <br /> the resolution Jas Unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
