STAFF REPORT: <br />PLANNING <br />COMMISSION: <br />TSM PROJECTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Tom McCrystal suggested that night bus service would benefit <br /> those students attending night classes at Piedmont. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Poore stated that night service would not be feasible at this <br /> time because the service to PVCC would connect with other routes <br /> throughout the City which' cease by 7:00 p,m. <br /> <br /> Mr. Robert Templin, standing in for Francis Fife, Chairman of the <br /> Charlottesville-Albemarle Employment and Training Commission, described <br /> the three following findings of the Commission: 1) cooperation should <br /> exist among businesses, lOcal governments and schools, 2) coordination <br /> of training and job placement should exist., and 3) transportation was <br /> needed to schools, training and job sites. <br /> <br /> Mr. James Kennon from B'lue Ridge Hospital, a neighbor to PVCC, stated <br /> t'hat the hospital's staff and patients would also benefit from the extended <br /> service. <br /> <br /> Ms. Alicia Lugo, representing the Manpower Training Program, endorsed <br /> the ~xtended bus service.- <br /> <br /> Mrs. Peggy Van Yahres, also appearing on behalf of Francis Fife, <br />recommended Council approval of the bus service. <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall moved to approve the proposed extended bus service to <br />Piedmont Virginia Community College, Dr. Gunter seconded the motion, and <br />it was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> Council was presented with the Planning Commission's recommendations <br />following a joint public hearing on the proposed projects. Mr. Hendrix <br />noted that there had been some concern with the proposed signal at the <br />Emmet Street/Angus Road inters.ection, but that the intersection had a <br />history of accidents.
