ORDINANCE: AMENDING NOISE ORDINANCE PUBLIC MINUTES PUBLIC with Downtown Charlottesville Inc. was continuing in order to find a satisfactory alternative. Mr. Huja added that the directories on the Mall were being updated and hanging signs were being explored. Mrs. Gleason moved to deny the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 31-179 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, TO PROVIDE SPECIAL SIGN REGULATIONS IN THE DOWNTOWN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CONTROL DISTRICT," Dr. Gunter seconded the motion and the ordinance was denied by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. Noes: None. Mr. Hendrix explained that the Planning Commission had held a public hearing on the Proposed changes in the noise ordinance and had worked with the neighborhood associations. Mr.. Conover moved the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN CHAPTER 16,1, AS AMENDED, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RELATING TO NOISE CONTROL," noting that .he felt it was a positive step forward and that he appreciated the effort made by so many people. Dr. Hall seconded the motion and it was carried over to the next meeting for considera- tion. There were no matters by the public. The meeting was adjourned.
