<br />HISTORIC PRE-
<br />SERVATION AND
<br />RESTORATION
<br />RECOGNITION
<br />
<br /> Mr. Buck presented resolutions recognizing individuals who had
<br />contributed to the historic preservation of buildings in the City.
<br />
<br /> On-motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Dr. Gunter, the resolutions
<br />were unanimously approved by Council.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, _by creating
<br />the Historic Landmarks Commission and the Board of Architectural Review,
<br />has recognized the value of encouraging appropriate restoration and pre-
<br />servation of property in the City; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council wishes to encourage further such preservation
<br />efforts; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council has decided that such efforts by property owners
<br />should be publicly recognized; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council, with the advice of the Historic Landmarks
<br />Commission, the Board of Architectural Review cOncurring, will recognize
<br />outstanding examples of rehabilitation.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the city CoUncil of the City of
<br />Charlottesville recognizes the Rinehart Townhouses, S01, S03, SOS, and SO?
<br />Second Street, N.B., and Commends the innovative use Of infill by Stuart
<br />Griffin Burgh and Randolph R. Rinehart.

<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, by creating
<br />the Historic Landmarks Commission and the Board of Architectural Review,

<br />Charlottesville recognizes the Bailey-Parrott-Fowler Cottage, 204 Ridge
<br />Street, and commends its restoration by Wilson W. Cropp, Jr.

<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, by creating
<br />the Historic Landmarks Commission and the Board of Architectural Review,
<br />has recognized the value of encouraging appropriate restoration and pre-
<br />servation of property in the City; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council wishes to encourage further such preservation
<br />efforts; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council has decided that such efforts by property owners

<br />restoration by Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Javins.

<br />has recognized the value of encouraging appropriate restoration and ore-
<br />servation of property in the City; and

<br /> WHEREAS, the Council wishes to encourage further such preservation

<br />should be publicly recognized; and

<br />and commends its restoration by Theo Van Groll.
