<br />Mr..Hendrix explained that the bus fare increase had been approved.
<br />at budget time,. 'but this would formalize the change.
<br />
<br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE INCREASING FARES FOR CITY
<br />TRANSIT SYSTEM" was moved by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason and
<br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration.
<br />
<br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND
<br />DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF YORKTOWN DRIVE," which was-offered at
<br />the meeting of June 4th, was approved by the following vote. Ayes:
<br />Mr. Buck, Mr. Conover, Mrs. Gleason, Dr. Gunter, Dr. Hall. Noes:
<br />
<br />None.
<br />
<br /> Mrs. Gleason moved and read the resolution thanking Mr. Conover
<br />for his four years on Council. The resolution was unimously seconded
<br />and approved by a unanimous vote, with Mr. Conover abstaining.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, you have served the City of CharlotteSville as a
<br />member of City Council from July 1, 1980 through June 30, 1984;
<br />and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, you have also served such City as Vice-Mayor from
<br />July 1, 1982 through June 30, 1984; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, during such time you have carried out your duties
<br />with honor, 4edication and'a sincere effort to serve the interests
<br />of the City gnd its people.

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br />CharlottesVille that we, your fellow councilors, on behalf of
<br />the citizens of this City, do hereby express~to you,' JOHN G. CONOVER,
<br />our deepest appreciation for your valuable insight, pervasive sense
<br />of humor, unique perspective, spont.ane°us wit, eagerness to listen,
<br />readiness to respond, and courage to decide and act with compassion
<br />for the common good -- the 1980 through 19~ Council's Man for all
<br />SeasonS.

<br />2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
