Mr. German <br />stated that the a.lternalives at this time appeared to be reducing the size <br />of the program or expanding the facilities through a joint City-County effort. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that the team sports are self supporting and capital <br />expenses would be the only expenses involved. Mr. Buck stated that the <br /> <br />proposal for a central sports complex arose when the deteriorated condition of <br />Mclntire Park was being studied. Mr. Buck added that he felt land should be <br />purchased in the near future while a selection is available and developed as <br />needed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mullaney suggested utilizing presently unused fields in the County <br />for part of the softball program as a short-term solution. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gerry Fisher, <br />stated that the idea of <br />County had been trying t <br />surrounding neighborhood: <br /> <br />~hairman of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, <br />:entralizing a facility was the opposite of what the <br /> <br /> accomplish and felt it would negatively impact <br /> <br /> Mr. Timothy LindstFom, member of the Board of Supervisors, recommended <br />considering where pers0n~ who are presently involved in the sport reside and <br />in studying a centralized~ location as one option. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Patricia Cook~, member of the Board of Supervisors, agreed that the <br />idea should be studied,1 but stated that the County's main priority was providing <br /> <br />services to areas where there are presently none. <br /> <br /> <br />
