5O2 Department contribution. On motion by Dr. Gunter, Seconded by Dr. Hall~ the appropriations were offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. Mrs. Gleason requested that Council take action on the Steering Committee for the Drunk Driving Task Force at the next meeting. Dr. Hall stated that he had received complaints concerning Tonsler Park and asked that staff study the feasibility of increasing the staffing and supervision at the park. Mr. Hendrix stated that staff is only in the park during the summer and that his office is presently investigating closing the parking lot and looking into other alternatives to solve the problem. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Lunch meeting with School Board BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM April 10, 1985 Council met in special session on this date for a lunch meeting with th~ Sehg~l Board with the~f011owing members present: Mr. Buck, MRS'. Gleason, Dx. Gunter, Dr. Hall. Absent: Mr. Barnes. Dr. Joseph Mooney, ~School Board member, requested-an additional $77,000 to complete the interior project at Charlottesville High School, and added that he understood that all future requests would be included in the capital improvement budget for the City. Mr. Jim Dunbar of the City School administration, summarized the interior project which included the following: 1) improvements in the commons area, 2) improvements in the. visitor's entrance, 3) larger., improved entrance on the north side, 4) installation of windows in interior doors to increase safety, and S) increase durability of some of the walls. Mr. Hendrix stated that the $46,000 would come from the funds left from the auditorium project and $31,000 from the General Fund which had previously been appropriated. Mr. Buck re-emphasized that all future school requests for capital improvements would follow the capital improvement procedure for the 'City. On motion by Dr. Gunter, seconded by Dr. Hall, Council unani- mously authorized use of $77,000 for the completion of interior improvements at Charlottesville High School. Dr. Pete Eberhart, Assistant Superintendent~ for City Schools, stated that the auditorium dedication was planned for May 9th.
