Mr. Rick Noble representing Madison House was questioned about <br />the unused funds in the budget going into the endowment fund and stated <br />that there was no way of knowing the source of unused funds. <br /> Mr. James R~. Peterson representing the Region X Mental Health <br />Board was present to answer questions. He stated he did not have an <br />appeal since his request was-le~s than last year. He stated that based <br />on the formual Charlottesville's share is reduced for the next fiscal <br />year. <br /> <br /> Mr. Ken Ackerman representing Monticello Amea Community Action <br />Agency stated he would like to have money for an assistant director. <br />He also stated that money is needed to operate the S~mmer Nutrition <br />Program at the playgrounds. <br /> <br /> The staff was quest~nned about the increase in the VPI-SU <br /> <br />~Extension Service budget. The answer was this is the first full year <br /> of operation in the Wilhoit-Building and the cost of utilities was <br /> under estimated for last year. This agency was not represented at <br /> the hearing, but the City has been notified that they are satisfied <br /> with the staff proposal. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ann Singleton representing OAR requested an increase in the <br /> staff proposal. She stated that she will lose employees through the <br /> CETA program which have been trained and can't be replaced under the <br /> new CETA regulations. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sam Pruitt representing the Joint Security Complex was <br /> present to answer any questions. He did not have an appeal since <br /> there was no proposed reduction in his request. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION <br /> <br />WORK SESSION RE: <br />School Budget <br /> <br />P ~ Pres~ident <br /> <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - THURSDAY, MARCH <br /> 22, 1979 <br /> <br /> A work session on the School Budget was held on this date with <br />the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. <br />Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> Members of the School Board present were: Dr. Richard Jennings, <br />Ms. Caroline Holloway, Mr. Wally Reed, Dr. Gary Hardley and Mr. J. A. <br />Kessler,rJr. <br /> <br /> Mayor Laurence Brunton opened the meeting and asked Dr. Jennings <br />if he has any comments on behalf of the School Board to which Dr. <br />Jennings replied he had no formal presentation other than that made <br />~n March 5th when the School Budget was presented to Council, but <br />present along with other members of the School Board and~staff members <br />to answer any questions Council might have. <br /> <br /> <br />
