Consideration re: <br />Ordinance - Bingo & <br />Raffle Permits <br /> <br />Report on the Thomas <br />Jefferson Visitors <br />Bureau <br /> <br /> An ordinance eqt~led ~'AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 17 <br /> OF THE CODE OF THE C~T?~6F~ CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976~ AS AMENDED BY <br /> ADDING NEW SECTIONS NUMBERED 17-19.1 THROUGH 17-19.12 AND TO <br /> REPEAL SECTION 17-19 RELATING TO LOTTERIES, RAFFLES AND BINGO <br /> GAMES," was offered by Mr. Gatewood~ seconded by Mrs. O'Brien <br /> and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Albro reporting for the committee for the consideration <br />of the development of the Thomas Jefferson Visitors Bureau <br />reported that the Committee has met several times and have <br />reached a stage in their deliberation where it was decided that <br />the members would go back to their respective bodies for <br />guidance. He stated the specific issue at this time is where <br />the bureau should be housed at the outset. He stated under the <br />current proposal the City will contribute $20,000 in cash, <br />the County $10,000 in cash and the Chamber of Commerce $10,000 <br />in cash and contribution of services and facilities. He stated <br />that the proposal at the outset was for the visitors bureau to <br />be located in the Chamber of Commerce office in the Commonwealth <br />Building. She <br /> <br />at ti <br />to i <br /> <br />also stated that if the bureau is located at the Bicentennial <br />Center there is a possibility the budget will be higher since <br />funiture would have to be purchased and a secretary employed. <br /> <br />She stated one of her major concerns is that if we are ultimately <br />planning to locate somewhere and the location appears to be <br />open at the time we start it makes more sense to start in the <br />localion you want to be permanenn. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated he feels strongly that it should be located <br /> e Bicentennial Center and that the Chamber should live up <br /> s commitment. <br /> <br /> <br />
