8O <br /> <br />ResolUtion of <br />sympathy to the <br />family of Molly <br />Ingle Michie <br /> <br />Resolution Welcoming <br />Sarah Hamilton Albro <br />to the Community <br />as a new citizen <br />(Sarah is the new <br />daughter of <br />Councilman Tom <br />Albro) <br /> <br />Authorizing <br />the use of more <br />Economic Development <br />money for property <br />options for Vinegar <br />Hill Project <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />On motion by Mrs, O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Buck the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the death today of Molly Ingle Michie has <br />deprived Charlottesville of a citizen deeply devoted to serving <br />the needs of her community and her fellow citizens~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Molly Michie made particular significant <br />contributions to the Children and young people of Charlottesville, <br />as one of the founders of the Central Virginia Child Development <br />Association, and through her active participation in the work of <br />the Barrett Day Care Center, the United Way Child Care Scholarship <br />Committee, the City School Board's Advisory Committee for <br />excePtional children, and the University League; and <br /> WHEREAS, Molly Michie's kindness and joyful spirit were <br /> the source of pleasure and inspiration to her many friends and <br /> acquaintances; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council joins with its fellow citizens in <br /> expressing deep regret at the loss of one who, has done so much to make <br /> CharlOttesville a better and more caring place to live~ <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville that we hereby ~express to Thomas J. Michie, Jr., <br /> and the family of Molly Ingle Michie our most sincere sympathy <br /> in there time of sorrow. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Buck the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charlottesville has recently gained a citizen, <br />to-wit: Sarah Hamilton Albro, new daughter of Councillor and Mrs. <br />Thomas Albro; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council takes great pleasurer in welcoming <br />Sarah to our community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council further takes pleasure in welcoming <br />Tom and Betsy Albro to the joys and tribulations of parenthood~ <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville, that we, on behalf of our fellow citizens, <br />do most heartily congratulate Councillor and Mrs. Albro on this <br />fine addition to their family, and extend to Sarah Hamilton Albro <br />our warmest wishes for a long and happy life in this city. <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that as a result of the <br /> activities of the Charlottesville Development Group the City is <br /> <br />in the process of obtaining options on the Vinegar Hill Property <br />so that the land would be available for the hotel/convention <br />center development. Since the land is still technically-~under <br /> <br />the control of the Housing Authority two appraisals are necessary <br />in order to fix a price for the options wh~ich is the standard <br />operating procedure for the disposal of land. under the Urban <br />Renewal process. Since the Housing Authority has no funds available <br />for this purpose Mr, Hendrix requested permission to use up to <br />$5,000 from the Economic Development Department budget to pay for the <br />appraisals. On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien the <br />foregoing request was unanimously approved. <br />A motion by Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr~ Albro that Council <br />meet in executive session to discuss matters exempted by Section <br />2.1-344(a)(2) and Section 2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia Freedom <br />of Information Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr.Buek, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. <br /> <br />O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
