Ordinance re: <br />Rezoning land on <br />south side of Cherry <br />Ave. near 7~ St., <br />S.W. from B-2 and <br />R-3 to B-3 <br /> <br />Ordinance re: Closing, <br />vacating & <br />discontinuing a <br />portion of unopened <br />Baker Street <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance rezoning <br />land at 201 14th <br />Street from R-2 <br />to B-2 . <br /> <br />Consideration re.~ <br />Ordinance re: <br />Amending section <br />2-103 of the City <br />Code, relating to <br />the Social Dev. <br />Commission <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O'Bmi~en, seconded by Mr. Albro the City Manager <br /> <br /> was directed to notify the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br /> Commission that the City agrees to participate in the Thomas Jefferson <br /> Planning District Commission Area Wide Housing Opportunity Plan and <br /> supports the goals of the plan~_and the implementing activities described <br /> therein. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "Alt ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE <br /> DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN SECTION 31-4 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976~ BY THE REZONING OF <br /> PROPERTY ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHERRY AVENUE IN THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE," which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> June 18, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br /> Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> Noes: None. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF UNOPENED BAKER STREET IN THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE," which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> June 18, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br /> Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: <br /> None. <br /> <br /> A communication was presented from the Planning Commission recommending <br /> that the petition to rezone from B-1 to B-3 property located at 201 <br /> 14th Street, N. W. be denied. <br /> <br /> The Mayor announced that a letter had been presented from the <br /> applicant requesting that the rezoning be changed from B-1 to B-2 <br /> instead of B-3. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja addressed the Council and explained the uses proposed <br /> <br /> for the property and stated the Planning Commission recommended denial <br /> for the following reasons: 1. it is contrary to the 1990 Land Use <br /> Plan; 2. it will create a need for parking which has to be <br /> accommodated off the site and in an area which is already deficient <br /> in parking; 3. it would set an undesirable precedent for similar <br /> properties in the block of 14th Street; and 4. there is already <br /> sufficiently zoned land available for the use proposed. He stated <br /> that the Planning Commission has not considered the change in <br /> request, but the staffs recommendation would not change. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE .AMENDING AND REENACTING THE <br />DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN SECTION 31-4 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF <br />THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, BY THE REZONING OF A <br />PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED ON 14TH STREET, N. W. IN THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE," was offered by Mr..Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Albro <br />and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION <br />2-103, AS AMENDED, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO THE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION," was offered by Mrs. <br />O'Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br />79 <br /> <br /> <br />
