Appropriation re: <br />$4,642 CAC3 <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$3,600 - Radio <br />Equipment Sheriff <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$232,935 - Mall <br />Project <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation <br />$6,000 - Mural <br />Project <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation <br />$16,366 - Y°uth <br />Service Information <br />Center <br /> <br />of such/a signal. After examination of the State's position by <br />the traffic engineering division of the City a formal appeal has <br />been filed with the State Highway Department asking them to <br />reconsider this position and the staff suggest that we wait until <br />an answer is received on this appeal before any further action is <br />taken. <br /> Mr. Stripling stated that if the Council wished to proceed <br />without State participation the cost ~s now estimated to be <br />$35,000 and would require some rescheduling of capital projects. <br /> Mrs~. O'Brien asked Mr. Stripling how long it would take to get <br /> an answer from the State and he replied he would be relucgant <br /> to guess how long it would take. <br /> The Mayor stated that we would wait for an answer to the <br /> appeal~ <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $4,642 for the purchase of <br /> additional disposal bins for the community recycling center on <br /> McIntire Road, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> July 16, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: <br /> Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> <br /> .The resolution appropriating $3,600 for the purchase of <br /> <br /> radio equipment for the office of the City Sheriff which was offered <br /> at the meeting of the Council on July 16, 1979, was adopted by the <br /> following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Br.unton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood <br /> and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None~ Absent: Mr. Albro. <br /> The resolution appropriating $232,935 for the Mall project, <br /> which was offered at the meeting of the Council on July 16, 1979, <br /> was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, <br /> Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: <br /> Mr. Albro. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien the following <br /> resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> consideration. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br /> ville that the sum of $6,000 is hereby appropriated from the <br /> Grants Fund to expenditure account 11-13050 for the.painting of <br /> murals or street art at various locations along Main Street and <br /> University Avenue. Such appropriation is subject to the receipt <br /> by the Grants Fund of revenues in the amount of $3,000 from the <br /> Virginia Commission ~or the Arts and Humanities State/Local <br /> Partnership Grant #187 and $1,200 from the Piedmont Environmental <br /> Council, and to the transfer and reappropriation for expenditure <br /> account 21-32010 (Stair Hill Revitalization Project) of $1,800 as <br /> the balance of the local matching share of such grant. <br /> <br /> Ms. Amy Melville, Outreach Worker for the Family Service <br /> <br /> Youth P~oject addressed the Council and gave a brief report on the <br /> on the activities of the past year and those they intend to carry <br /> out in the coming year. She stated that six issues of the news <br /> letter had been distributed to approximately 500 people each issue; <br /> developed and distributed the Galactic Guide; the establishment <br /> of Youth Boards one for the middle schools and one for the high <br /> school; the youth service board has been meeting monthly and in May <br /> <br /> <br />
