I10 <br /> <br />Resolution re: Thomas <br />Jefferson Planning <br />District Commission <br />to surrounding <br />Counties <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by M~s. 0~Brien ~he following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> I~KEREAS, the City of Charlottesville has been an active <br />participant in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District, since the <br />formation of that regional body; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has learned with regret of the <br />recent decisions by the Board of Supervisors of the Counties of. <br />Fluvanna,~..Greene, Loui~a and Nelson to discontinue their <br />part.i~cip'at~ion~ in,' and funding of, the work of the Thomas Jefferson <br />Planning District'at the conclusion of the current fiscal year; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council is fully aware .of the frustrations, <br />limigations and difficulties inherent in the regional planning <br />process; and <br /> WHEREAS~ we are nevertheless convinced that the continued <br /> functioning of that process is of great importance to' all of the <br /> jurisdictions comprising the planning district; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we are anxious~that the benefits produced by <br /> the regionat~planning..process should continue to accrue to all <br /> participating jurisdictions~ now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED~by the Council of th~City of Charlottesville, <br /> Virginia.that we'hereby express to the Board of Supervisors of_ <br /> the Counties'of Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson our extreme <br /> regret at their decision to terminate their participation in the <br /> Thomas Jefferson Planning DistriCt, and urge each of them to <br /> reconsider .that decision; and <br /> BE IT FURTHEKRESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br /> is hereby directed to send certified copies of this resolution <br /> to the Boards of. Supervisors of such 'counties, to the Board <br /> of Supervisors of the'County of Albemarle, and to the Thomas <br /> Jefferson Planning District Commission. <br /> <br /> A motion by Mr. Buck~ seconded by Mr. Gatewood that Council <br /> meet in executive session to discuss matters exempted by Section <br /> 2.1-344(a)'(-1) and 2.1-344(a)(2) of the Virginia Freedom of Inform- <br /> ation Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br /> Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs..O'Brien.
