I10 Resolution re: Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission to surrounding Counties Executive Session On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by M~s. 0~Brien ~he following resolution was unanimously adopted. I~KEREAS, the City of Charlottesville has been an active participant in the Thomas Jefferson Planning District, since the formation of that regional body; and WHEREAS, this Council has learned with regret of the recent decisions by the Board of Supervisors of the Counties of. Fluvanna,~..Greene, Loui~a and Nelson to discontinue their part.i~cip'at~ion~ in,' and funding of, the work of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District'at the conclusion of the current fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the Council is fully aware .of the frustrations, limigations and difficulties inherent in the regional planning process; and WHEREAS~ we are nevertheless convinced that the continued functioning of that process is of great importance to' all of the jurisdictions comprising the planning district; and WHEREAS, we are anxious~that the benefits produced by the regionat~planning..process should continue to accrue to all participating jurisdictions~ now, therefore, be it RESOLVED~by the Council of th~City of Charlottesville, Virginia.that we'hereby express to the Board of Supervisors of_ the Counties'of Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson our extreme regret at their decision to terminate their participation in the Thomas Jefferson Planning DistriCt, and urge each of them to reconsider .that decision; and BE IT FURTHEKRESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to send certified copies of this resolution to the Boards of. Supervisors of such 'counties, to the Board of Supervisors of the'County of Albemarle, and to the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission. A motion by Mr. Buck~ seconded by Mr. Gatewood that Council meet in executive session to discuss matters exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)'(-1) and 2.1-344(a)(2) of the Virginia Freedom of Inform- ation Act, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs..O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mrs. Albr0. On motion the meeting adjourned.
