Commission report re: Retirement Fund Commission Resolution re: Establishing insurance limits fOr bicycle race Ordinance re: Amending Legal Holiday Schedule A statement of t~e Ci~'y of Charlottesville Retirement Plan Fund as of June 30~?i~7~9~as required by Section 20-17 of the City Code, was presented and ordered filed with the minutes of this meeting. A mtaff report was presented stating that a local firm, Kruger Farms Apple Cider, is arranging .a special downtown promotional effort incooperation witk Downtown Charlottesville~ Inc. for the last week end in October, As a part of the promotion they want to hold two events which would use the city streets, a family run and hicycte race which are to be held between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Octoher'28th. The report stated the race has been reviewed and approved by both the police department and traffic engineering division and the estimated cost of providing traffic control fnr this activity is $600.00, Representatives of Downtown Charlottesville, Inc. endorse the project and Kruger Farms has agreed to provide the required insurance coverage, notify personally all major organizations affected by the street closings, provide adequate restroom facilities, assist police with volunteer marshals, assist in clean up efforts and participate in the cost of traffic control. The staff recommends that the Council approve the use of city streets for time and date requested and to set the recommended insurance coverage requirement which are three hundred thousand dollars personal injury and one hundred thousand dollars property damage. Mr. Mark Kruger addressed the Council and stated that his company is willing to provide the necessary insurance and contribute two hundred'dollars to help defray the cost of traffic control. Miss Amy Rakes, Executive Director of Downtown Charlottesville, Inc. stated that D.C.I. would contribute $75.00 of the traffic contro~ cost. A motiOn by Mr.~.~Gatewood, seconded by Mrs. O'Brien that Council approve the use of the streets for the date and time requested, that insurance be provided at the recommended limits and conditioned upon other provisions to which Kruger Farms has agreed, was adopted by the following recorded vote, Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: Mr. Buck. Absent: Mr. Albro. An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE-TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 2-1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO LEGAL HOLIDAYS," which was offered at the meeting of the Council on August 20, 1979, was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gate- wood and Mrs 'O'Brien. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Albro 109
