200 <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Mrs. Esther B. <br />Wayland for her <br />Gift to the City <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />he felt the City can enforce this code compliance through its inspection <br />program. <br /> <br /> Mrs. O'Brien stated she would like to have a staff response to <br /> <br />the issues raised before the second reading of this ordinance. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. O~Brien~ seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that the sum of $25,000 is hereby accepted as a gift from <br />Esther B. Wayland and designated as revenue in the Capital Projects <br />Fund; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council expresses to Mrs. <br />Wayland its graditude for h~r generous donation to the City. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs~ 0~Brien, seconded by Mr. Albro that Council <br /> <br />meet in executive session to discuss matters exempted by Section <br />2.1~344(a) (1), 2.1~.344(a) (2) and 2.1~.344(a) (6) of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Act, was adopted By the following recorded <br />vote. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER ~ TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 1980 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation re: <br />Frank Folsom Smith - <br />McGuffey Housing <br />and acceptance <br />by Council <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. <br />Gatewood and Mrs. O~Brien. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of December 17, 1979 and January <br />7, 1980 were approved as presented. <br /> <br /> Mr. Frank Folsom Smith, addressed the Council and presented <br />plans and drawings for the proposed condominium project on the <br />McGuffey Property as proposed for Phase I. He stated that they <br />had secured ninteen reservations out of the twenty-one units in <br />the first Phase. He stated they hoped to be ready to sign firm <br />sales contracts by March, site construction scheduled to be <br />starting in April and building construction in May of this year. <br />He stated he would like to separate Phase I and Phase II as far <br />as the purchase of .the land is concerned, but he would like to <br />have a binding contract for purchase of the entire tract. He <br />requested Council's approval of the plans and designs as presented. <br />He also requested Council to approve changing the terms of his <br />existing option to allow him to purchase the land on a binding <br />contract but with closing in two phases. Closing on the first <br />Phase would be prior to construc.tion, at a price of $40~000, and <br />the second Phase purchase would be closed within two years <br />thereafter, at a price of $35,000. <br /> <br /> <br />
