<br />Brandywine Drive, south side, ~ segment of approximately 800
<br />feet from Greenbrier Drive to Yorktown Drive.

<br />Dice Street north or south side, 2 segments totalling
<br />approXimately 600 feet from 7~ Street to Ridge Street and
<br />compatible with other needs of street.
<br />
<br />North Avenue (south side), Sheridan Avenue (west side), Calhoun
<br />Street (South side), Locust Avenue (east side) 4 segments
<br />totalling approximately 19~0'feet, 150 feet west of Holmes
<br />Avenue to 940 Locust Avenue.
<br />
<br />Yorktown Drive - east side, 2 segments totalling appraximately
<br />2500 feet from BUnker Hill Drive to Grove Road.
<br />
<br />Dairy Road - east side, 2 segments totalling, apprQximately
<br />1850 feet from 250 Bypass to Rugby Road~
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER ~SOLVED that the City staff is directed to begin
<br />work on such projects to the extent possible with funds already appropriated
<br />for sidewalk construction in the budget for the current fiscal year,
<br />and that any portion of such projects which cannot be completed within
<br />such existing levels of funding shall receive top priority for the
<br />allocation of funds appropriated for future yDars.
<br />
<br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council unanimously
<br />
<br />approved the following resolution;
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS this Council has received a petition requesting vacation
<br />of a portion of an alley between Hazel and GilleSpie Streets;~.and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS it appears to Council that the notices required by
<br />Section 15.-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, have
<br />been duly posted; now, therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia,
<br />that Mrs. Mary Jane Haynes and Messrs. W.J. Copeland and H.P. Winn
<br />report in writing to Council whatinconveniences, if any, would result
<br />from such vacation.
<br />
<br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council unanimously
<br />
<br />approved the following resolution:
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS the City Engineer has advised that portions of certain
<br />streets heretofore dedicated but unaccepted for maintenance in the
<br />City street system have now been completed according to City
<br />specifications by the developers of adjacent properties; now,
<br />therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia,
<br />that the following streets or portions of streets are hereby accepted
<br />into the City §treet system for maintenance.
<br />
<br />1. Riverside Street from a point 315 feet north of Chesapeake
<br />Street to a point 882 feet north of Chesapeake Street, a distance
<br />of 567 feet.
<br />
<br />2. In Rock Creek Woods~Subdivision, Paton Street between
<br />Moore Street and G=oVe Street, Grove Street from Paton Street
<br />east 139 feet and King Street from Paton Street east 135 feet.
<br />
<br />On motion by Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Albro, Council unanimously
<br />
<br />approved the following resolution:
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS this Council has received a petition requesting vacation
<br />of that unopened portion of River Road extending in a westerly
<br />direction from its intersection with Locust Avenue for a distance of
<br />approximately 150 feet and adjacent to Parcels 149 and 150 on City
<br />Real Property Tax Map 49; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS it appears to Council that the notices required by
<br />Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, have
<br />been duly posted; now, therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that
<br />Mrs. Mary Jane Haynes and Messrs. W.J. Copeland and H.P. Winn report
<br />in writing to Council what inconveniences, if any, would result from
<br />such vacatian~
<br />
<br />Mr. Cole Hendrix, City Manager, explained to Council that a
<br />
<br />low bid of $171,171.00 has been received from Aaron J. Conner,
<br />
<br />General Contractor, fam Che storm drainage improvements for the
<br />
<br />Schenks Branch project, Phase II, and he recommended acceptance of
<br />
<br />this bid. The original appropriation for the project was $R~9,000.00.
<br />
<br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. Conover, Council unanimously
<br />
<br />approved this bid and directed the City Manager to accept it.
