Buck (signed) <br /> Clerk President <br /> <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1980 <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Gleason, .seconded by Mr. Conover, Council <br />unanimously agreed to meet in executive session to discuss matters <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1)(Personnel) of the Vi'~ginia Freedom <br />of Information Act. <br /> <br /> Following the executive session, Council met in regular session <br />with the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Mr. Conoyer, <br />· Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. COnover, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council <br />unanimously approved the minutes of the Council meeting of September <br />2, 1980, with amendments, On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Mr. <br />Conover, Council unanimously approved the minutes of September 3, 1980, <br />and September 10, 1980, as presented. On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded <br />by Ms. Gleason, Council unanimously approved the minutes of September <br />9, 1980, as presented, <br /> <br /> Mr. Cole Hendrix, City Manager, showed a map and presented an <br /> explanation of the proposed Hydraulic Road design. The following <br /> people made remarks about the design, <br /> <br /> Mr. Wallace Reed of 1531 Rugby Road endorsed the Planning <br /> Department's recommendations and presented a petition from residents <br /> in the area supporting it. He preferred restricting northbound- <br /> traffic and allowing southbound traffic. <br /> <br /> A resident of Dairy Road objected to the Hydraulic Road improvements <br /> without improvements to the Route 29 and 250 Bypass intersection because <br /> it would only encourage more traffic at Hydraulic Road. <br /> <br /> Ms. Peggy King, president of the League of Women Voters, urged <br /> Council to include sidewalks and bicycle paths along Hydraulic Road <br /> to ensure safe pedestrian travel for the residents of the high <br /> density housing on Michie Drive. <br /> <br />.j <br /> <br /> <br />
