377 Ordinance re: Amending Section 27-16.1 relating to taxicab rates Other business Resolution re: Commending retiring Clerk of Circuit Court Executive session in some neighborhoods adjacent to the University; and WHEREAS the University's own master plan recognizes the need for at least three thousand additional on-grounds housing spaces; now, hherefore, be it RESOLVED hy the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia: (1) that the Council considers the University's proposed budget request to the General Assembly for housing for an additional five hundred students to be inadequate; (2) that Council urges the University to request funding for the full twenty-five hundred housing spaces which, when added to thOse already committee, will meet the goals of the University's master plan; (3) that Council recognizes the need, once such funding approval has been obtained, to construct such housing in phases over several years; (4) that Council is prepared actively to support the Univeristy's request for such student housing before appropriate committees of the General Assembly of Virginia. The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 27-16.1, AS ADOPTED DECEMBER 1, 1980, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RELATING TO TAXICAB RATES" which was offered at the Council meeting on December 10 was adopted by the following vote. Ayes:. Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Ms. Gleason, Dr. Hall. No: Mr, Conover. Mr. Hendrix requested that Council authorize the City School Board to set up a separate account for the food service operation of the City schools. He stated that this action would simplify the financial operation of the food services, making it possible to receive and expend funds for food services independently of the School Board budget. On motion by 'Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Conover, Council unanimously approved the request. On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council unanimously adopted the following resolution: WHEREAS Carl E. Hennrich has served as Clerk of the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville for the past eleven years; and WHEREAS.Carl E, Hennrich has announced that he will retire effective December 31, 1980; and WHEREAS, under the outstanding direction of Carl E. Hennrich, the Clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville attained the well deserved reputation of being operated in an extremely efficient manne~ without sacrificing courteous treatment of those who utilized the office; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Carl E. Hennrich for the outstanding service he has rendered as Clerk of the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville and wish him well in his retirement; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of this Council spread a true copy of this resolution in tha current City Council minutes hook and forward a true copy of the same to the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville so that it may be spread in the current Law Order Book. On motion by Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Conover, Council unanimously agreed to meet in executive session to discuss matters exempted by Section 2,1-344(a) (1) (Personnel) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
