377 <br /> <br />Ordinance re: <br />Amending Section <br />27-16.1 relating to <br />taxicab rates <br /> <br />Other business <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Commending retiring <br />Clerk of Circuit Court <br /> <br />Executive session <br /> <br />in some neighborhoods adjacent to the University; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the University's own master plan recognizes the <br />need for at least three thousand additional on-grounds housing <br />spaces; now, hherefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED hy the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> (1) that the Council considers the University's proposed <br />budget request to the General Assembly for housing for an <br />additional five hundred students to be inadequate; <br /> <br /> (2) that Council urges the University to request funding <br />for the full twenty-five hundred housing spaces which, when <br />added to thOse already committee, will meet the goals of the <br />University's master plan; <br /> <br /> (3) that Council recognizes the need, once such funding <br />approval has been obtained, to construct such housing in phases <br />over several years; <br /> <br /> (4) that Council is prepared actively to support the <br />Univeristy's request for such student housing before appropriate <br />committees of the General Assembly of Virginia. <br /> <br />The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> <br />SECTION 27-16.1, AS ADOPTED DECEMBER 1, 1980, OF THE CODE OF <br /> <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, RELATING TO TAXICAB RATES" <br /> <br />which was offered at the Council meeting on December 10 was <br /> <br />adopted by the following vote. Ayes:. Mr. Albro, Mr. Buck, Ms. <br /> <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall. No: Mr, Conover. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrix requested that Council authorize the City School <br /> <br />Board to set up a separate account for the food service operation <br /> <br />of the City schools. He stated that this action would simplify <br /> <br />the financial operation of the food services, making it possible <br /> <br />to receive and expend funds for food services independently of <br /> <br />the School Board budget. On motion by 'Dr. Hall, seconded by Mr. <br /> <br />Conover, Council unanimously approved the request. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Albro, seconded by Ms. Gleason, Council <br /> <br />unanimously adopted the following resolution: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS Carl E. Hennrich has served as Clerk of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Charlottesville for the past eleven years; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS.Carl E, Hennrich has announced that he will retire <br />effective December 31, 1980; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the outstanding direction of Carl E. <br />Hennrich, the Clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the City <br />of Charlottesville attained the well deserved reputation of <br />being operated in an extremely efficient manne~ without sacrificing <br />courteous treatment of those who utilized the office; now, therefore, <br />be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Carl E. <br />Hennrich for the outstanding service he has rendered as Clerk <br />of the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville and wish <br />him well in his retirement; and be it <br /> <br /> FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of this Council spread a <br />true copy of this resolution in tha current City Council minutes <br />hook and forward a true copy of the same to the Circuit Court <br />of the City of Charlottesville so that it may be spread in the <br />current Law Order Book. <br /> <br />On motion by Ms. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Conover, Council <br /> <br />unanimously agreed to meet in executive session to discuss <br /> <br />matters exempted by Section 2,1-344(a) (1) (Personnel) of the Virginia <br /> <br />Freedom of Information Act. <br /> On motion the meetingadjo~~e ~o rn~d. <br /> Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
