437 <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle Regional <br />Jail Board <br /> <br />ApprOpriation re: <br />Adjustment of CDBG <br />accounts <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> He said that merchants at ~hat end of town had formed the <br /> <br /> Starr Hill-WeSt Main Street AsSoCiation tO encourage businesses <br /> to renovate properties along West Main St-feet If the land- <br /> scaping, is ~accomplished, it will:improve the appearance of <br /> that part of Main Street and encourage business owners in <br /> their plans for renovation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bernard capterton of lll3'West Main Street agreed <br />with Mr, Teague and urged Council tO finish the job done on <br />the eastern expanse of Main Street. <br /> <br /> There being no more public speakers, Mayor'Buck closed <br />the public hearing. <br /> <br /> Dr. Hall spoke in favor of ~the re-Programming and <br />supported the efforts of the staff and business:people to <br />improve West MainStreet. Mr. Conove~ agreed and congratulated <br />the community Development department for the fine job they did <br />with these funds and especially for having money left over <br />that could be put to other uses. He also inquired whether <br />the money left over from these new proposals could be used <br />for buying paint for buildings onWest Main street.
