and he felt it is in the best interest to the community to keep <br />the office in the downtown area, but that the Board must get a <br />decision or they will be ~forced to meet with the School Board, <br />made arrangements for other uses of the McIntire Building and <br />move the County Offices outside the City. He stated than he <br />was asking for rezoning for County Office building only and <br />if not used for the purpose then the City could rezone to the <br />original zoning. He stated that the County is ready to work with <br />the City on installing traffic lights and solving the traffic <br />problem. He stated that the Board will work with the Council <br />in any reasonable manner. Citizens of both the City and the County <br />are in favor of keeping the offices downtown. He stated that the <br />County would pay for the rear ennrance and if something can be <br />done at the front entrance the board would work with the Council <br />on solving on solving that problem. Mr. Hendrix asked if the <br />County would be willing to put up $50,000 to redesign the <br />interesection of Allied Street and McIntire Road and in addition <br />construct the rear entrance. Mr. Wheeler stated that the County <br />would be willing to go 50% on the intersection plus construction <br />of the rear entrance. A motion was made by Mr. Van Yahres, <br />seconded by Mrs. Rinehart to deny the petition. A substitute <br />motion Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gilliam to table the request <br />was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />~=~ ~Clerk <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Regular meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Public Hearing re: <br />Air rights over <br />Park Place <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance re: <br />Air rights over <br />Park Place <br /> <br /> COUNCIL CHAMBER - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1975 <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, <br />Mrs. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of August 18~and 25, 1975 were <br /> approved as presented. <br /> <br /> A public hearing was held on this date on an ordinance to <br />authorize conveyance of an easement for air rights over Park <br />Place to University of Virginia. Mr. Wiley reminded the <br /> <br />Council that representatives of the Hniversity came before Council <br />months ago indicating their intention to request Council to <br />grant air rights over-Park Place for a pedestrian walk way~connecting <br />their new Medical Education' facility and the proposed Primary <br />Health Care Center. He stated it is necessary that Council hold <br />a public hearing prior to granting this conveyance, which has <br />been properly advertised. He also stated it was necessary that <br />proper approval be obtain from the State Highway Department. No <br />one appeared for or in opposition to the proposal. An ordinance <br />entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF A~PERPETUAL <br />EASEMENT FOR AIR RIGHTS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA OVER A <br />PORTION OF PARK PLACE," was offered by Mr. Gilliam, seconded by <br /> <br /> <br />
