Resolution re: <br />Virginia Department <br />of Highways <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$960 - Publication <br />of Maps - Daily <br />Progress <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />of the Fluvanna County request for $5,000 worth of radios. <br />Mr. Gilliam stated that based on the information before them <br />he and Mr. Van Yahres supported a resolution to place <br />Fluvanna's request ahead of Charlottesville. The Chairman <br />of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission requested <br />Council to consider taking the same position as the Planning <br />District Cbmmission, that is to ask that Fluvanna request <br />be placed ahead of Charlottesville. A motion by Mr. Gilliam, <br />seconded by Mr. Van Yahres that Council concurs with the <br />Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission in giving <br />Fluvanna County's request the highest regional priority, was <br />unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. Gilliam the <br /> following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this CounCil has previously requested <br /> participation_by the Virginia Department of Highways and <br /> Transportation in the non-federal share of the City's mass <br /> transit grant application; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by letter dated October 16, 1975, the Urban <br /> Mass Transit Administration (UMTA) of the United States <br /> Department of Transportation notified the City of <br /> Charlottesville that it has approved the.~grant application for <br /> such Project No. Va-03-0013 with a total project budget of <br /> $726,665, comprising a federal share of $581,332 and a <br /> non-federal share of $145,333; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br /> City of Charlottesville, that the Virginia Department of <br /> Highways and Transportation again be requested to participate <br /> in funding the non-federal share of this project to the <br /> extent of 17% of the total budget thereof, or $123,533. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that the Maps showing <br /> <br /> the leaf collection routes for the following week have been ~_J <br /> carried by the Daily Progress as a public service, but he has <br /> been notified that beginning next week the City will be <br /> required to pay for the maps but the news story will be <br /> carried as a public service. He stated it would cost $960 <br /> to continue these maps for the rest of this leaf collecting <br /> season. On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. Gilliam <br /> the following resolution was adopted by the following recorded <br /> vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam, Mrs. Rinehart <br /> and Mr. Van Yahres. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that $960 be and the same is hereby <br /> appropriated from the General Fund for newspaper advertising ~-- <br /> for leaf collection. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. Gilliam <br /> <br /> the Council voted to go into executive session to discuss <br /> personnel and land acquisition by the following recorded <br /> vote.
