Johnson - closing <br />of Albemarle St. at <br />Preston Avenue <br /> <br />Easters Weekend <br /> <br />Appointment re: <br />Victor Mazziotti- <br />Director of Finance <br /> <br /> The City Manager stated that he would like to <br />review what has been done to date about the communication <br />from the General Services Administration regarding plans <br />to lease office and special purpose space in <br />Charlottesville and requests some guidance as to how the <br />Council desires to answer~GSA. Mr. Gilliam stated <br />that he felt very strongly that the City doesn't want <br />the post office to move from its present location and <br />should formally ask that a public hearing be held. Mrs. <br />Rinehart reminded the Council that a resolution was <br />adopted at the last Council meeting requesting that <br />this be done. On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by <br />Mr. Fife the City Manager was requested to follow up <br />on this resolution adopted at the April 5th meeting <br />and determine if proper steps are being taken to schedule <br />a public hearing. <br /> Rev. R. A. Johnson, Pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church, <br /> addressed the Council and complained because Albemarle <br /> Street will be closed at Preston Avenue. The City <br /> Manager advised Rev. Johnson that this has been in the <br /> plan for Preston Avenue from the beginning and he was not <br /> sure whether anything could be done at this late date, but <br /> agreed that he would get a representat±~e from the State <br /> Highway Department to meet with representatives from <br /> the City to see if anything can be done. <br /> Mrs. Rinehart stated that after another Easters <br /> Weekend the City should investigate the use or misuse <br /> of city streets by groups of people in a disorderly <br /> fashion. After some discussion a motion by Mrs. Rinehart, <br /> seconded by Mr. Van Yahres that the City Manager be <br /> requested to give a report about Easters Weekend and also <br /> some recommendation for the futur.e. <br /> On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. Fife, <br /> Victor Ma~miotti, was appointed Director of Finance <br /> effective May 10, 1976, at an annual salary of $21,816, <br /> by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Pres ident <br /> <br /> <br />
