S. <br />Rush, Jr. <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />10'7. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that bids <br /> <br />had been taken for the installation of a gas main from <br />McIntire Road to Preston Avenue and 10th Street. He <br />noted that the low bid was submitted by TAG, Ltd. in <br />the amount of $50,661.85 and recommended that this bid <br />be accepted, On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. <br />Van Yahres the foregoing recommendation was unanimously <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, seconded by Mr. <br /> <br />Gilliam the following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council finds and declares it <br />to be in the public interest for the City to continue <br />to undertake all practicable measures to insure a <br />continued adequate supply of natural gas at the lowest <br />possible price for the City's gas consumers; now, <br />therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that the City Attorney is authorized <br />and directed, in conjunction with special counsel <br />retained for such purpose, to file a notice of <br />intervention in the rate cases of Columbia Gas <br />Transmission Corporation and Columbia Gulf Transmission <br />Company in Federal Power Commission Docket Nos. <br />RP76-94 and RP76-95, and to take all actions deemed <br />necessary to protect the City's interests in such <br />proceedings, {~ithin the limitation of funds hereto- <br />fore appropriated for such purposes from the Gas <br />Fund. <br /> <br /> In comoliance with a previous motion, the Council <br />went into executive session to discuss appointments to <br />various boards and commissions. <br /> <br /> The executive session was dispensed with and open <br /> <br />session resumed. <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, Mrs. Virginia Schatz, <br />was appointed to the! Planning Commission to fill an <br />unexpired term, expiring August 31, 1977, by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Van Yahres, Mr. Lawrence Quarles, <br />was reappointed to the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority <br />Board, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Gilliam, Mr. Wilson Collier, was <br />appointed to the Retirement Plan Commission for a one <br />year term, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, Mrs. Rose Ann Held, was <br />appointed to the Retirement Plan Commission, for a two <br />year term, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> on motion by Mr. Van Yahres, Mr. J. S. Rush, Jr., was <br />appointed to the Retirement Plan Commission, for a three <br />year term, by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. Gilliam <br />the Council voted to go into executive session on Monday, <br />May 10 at 8:00 P.M. to discuss appointments. <br /> <br /> On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Pres ident <br /> <br /> <br />
