Resol'ution re: <br />TJPDC Regional <br />Crime Justice Plan <br /> <br />Staff Report re: <br />Pen Park Bus Route <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$2,000 Charlottesville <br />High School <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$5400 Street Lights <br /> <br />Request re: <br />$7500 Mall <br /> <br />Appropriation <br /> <br />requested the Council's endorsement. On motion by b~. <br />Gilliam, seconded by Mrs. Rinehart the following resolution <br />was unanimOusly adopted. <br /> WHEREAS, the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission has prepared a "Regional Plan for Improvement <br />of the Criminal Justice System: FY 76-77" in accordance <br />with the fed~eral Crime Control Act of 1973; and <br /> WHEREAS, this plan has been approved by the <br /> regional Criminal Justice Advisory Council upon which <br /> City of Charlottesville is ably represented; and <br /> WHEREAS, endorsement of this plan is in the <br /> best interest of the citizens of Charlottesville; <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council <br /> d6es approve and endorse the Thomas Jefferson Planning <br /> District Commission's "Regional Plan for Imp=ovement <br /> of the Criminal Justice System: FY 76-77" as represented <br /> to the Council on this date. <br /> The City Manager presented a proposal for operating <br /> the City Bus Service to Pen Park, Thursdays thru Saturdays, <br /> and an alternate proposal for operation Thursdays thrU <br /> Sundays, He stated that the cost of operating this <br /> service Thursdays thru Sundays would be approximately <br /> $3515 and projected revenues of $500.00 making a net <br /> operating deficit of $3016. Mr. Van Yahres offered <br /> a motion, seconded by Mr. Fife that this bus service <br /> be offered Thursdays thru Saturdays at regular fare. <br /> A substitute motion by Mrs. Rinehart, seconded by Mr. <br /> Barbour that the service be offered Thursdays thru <br /> Saturdays at regular fare and service on Sunday be <br /> free, was adopted by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br /> Barbour, Mr. Gilliam and Mrs. Rinehart. Noes: Mr. <br /> Fife and Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $2,000 for Planting <br /> <br /> at Charlottesville High School, which was offered at <br /> the meeting of the Council on May 17, 1976, was adopted <br /> by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mre Barbour, <br /> Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam,M~s. Rinehart and Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $5400 for street <br /> lighting, which was offered at the meeting of the Council <br /> on May 17, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded <br /> vote. Ayes; Mr. Barbour, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gilliam and <br /> Mrs. Rinehart. Noes: Mr. Van Yahres. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bern Ewert, Deputy City Manager, reported to <br /> Council that there are still a few items to be considered <br /> before the Mall can be called complete. He stated that <br /> some of the items are: Mall Directory, Bicycle Racks, <br /> <br /> <br />
