A motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by <br />Mr. Gatewood to transfer the buses to the School Board provided <br />the School Board will lease them to Mr. Graves on the same basis <br />as the City, was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> The City Manager also reported that the School Board has <br />requested that three of the buses be equipped with rear seat <br />heaters at ~a cost of approximately $900.00 and recommended that <br />this be done. He stated that the money is available in the <br />Capital Budget and no appropriation is necessary. On motion <br />by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the purchase of the <br />rear seat heaters for three buses, was unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Brun~on, seconded by Mr. Barbour the <br /> following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION appointing viewers to consider a request <br /> for the vacation of an alley. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has received a petition requesting <br /> vacation of an alley approximately 15 feet in width and running <br /> for a distance of 144 feet, more or less, in a easterly direction <br /> from Avon Street and bordering along Lots 1, 2, 3, 11, 12 and 13, <br /> Block 47 of Belmont as shown on City Tax Map 59; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appears to Council that the notices required <br /> by Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, <br /> have been duly posted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br /> of Charlottesville that Messrs. J. P. Borden, Mason S. Byrd and <br /> H. P. Winn report in writing to COuncil what inconvenience, if <br /> any, would result from such vacation. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONTINUING A 15 FOOT ALLEY RUNNING IN A SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION <br /> FOR APPROXIMATELY 310 FEET FROM LEE STREET," which was offered <br /> at the meeting of the Council on August 2, 1976, was adopted by <br /> the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, <br /> Mr. Fife, and Mr. Gatewood. Noes: None. Absent: Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br /> SECTIONS 20-17, 20-19 AND 20-26 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976 RELATING TO VALUATIONS AND REPORTS, <br /> DEFINITIONS UNDER THE CITY SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT PLAN AND <br /> EFFECT OF TRANSFERS OF EMPLOYMENT ON RETIREFIENT ALLOWA~NCES," <br /> was offered by M~.
