Appointment re: <br />Board <br /> <br />Library <br /> <br />Appointments re: <br />Planning Commission <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Ordinance - Social <br />Development Commission <br /> <br />Staff Report re: <br />Greenbrier Bus Route <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation - $1,943 <br />Juvenile Court <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation - <br />$5~990 - Airport <br />Fire Crash Truck <br /> <br />15:1__ <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, Mr. Ed Bain and Mr. Lloyd Smith, <br /> <br />were reappointed to the Library Board for a four year term, <br /> <br />expiring August 31, 1980. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Fife, Mrs. Mary Jane Haynes and Mr. Warren <br />Martin were reappointed to the Planning Commission for a four <br />year term , expiring August 31, 1980. <br /> <br /> An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING <br />SECTION 2-103 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976 <br />RELATING TO THE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION," was offered <br />by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour and carried over to the <br />next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. E. C. Wade, Manager of the Transit System, addressed <br /> <br /> the Council and reported that a study had been made of the need <br /> for bus service in Greenbrier by graduates in Transportation <br /> Studies at the University and that the study indicates a demand <br /> for bus service to this section of the City. He stated that <br /> a specific route has been recommended which would serve the <br /> University, Downtown, Barracks Road Shopping Center and K-Mart. <br /> He also stated that Greenbrier is the only major area of the City <br /> not served by the Transit System~at this time. The cost of the <br /> proposed Greenbrier Route is estimated to be $28,100, with revenue <br /> of $11,700, leaving a deficit of $16,400 for the period October <br /> <br /> 1 to June 30. Mr. Wade stated that no new equipment will be needed <br /> to initiate this route. On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by <br /> Mr. Gatewood the following resolution was offered and carried <br /> over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that $28,100 be and the same is hereby appropriated <br /> from the General Fund for operation of the bus route in Greenbrier <br /> from October 1 thru June 30, 1977. <br /> <br /> The City Manager reported that there are no funds in the budget <br /> of the Juvenile Court for moving the Court to its new location <br /> on August 28, 1976. He also stated that an additional $2200 is <br /> needed to cover rent for the months of July and August since the <br /> new facilities were not completed. He stated that the City and <br /> Albemarle County each pay one-half of these costs. On motion by <br /> Mr. Gatewood, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following resolution <br /> was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br /> Charlottesville that $1,943 be and the same is hereby appropriated <br /> from the General Fund for rent and moving co, mrs of the Juvenile <br /> Court. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that the scheduled <br /> delivery date for the Fire Crash Vehicle at the Airport is mid <br /> October, 1976 and that the City's share of the cost of this <br /> vehicle is $5,990 and requested an appropriation in this amount. <br /> On motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the following <br /> resolution was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> cons ideration. <br /> <br /> <br />
