<br />Poggio A~Caianco, Italy
<br /> WHEREAS, the community of Charlottesville and Albemarle
<br /> County once hosted, and had as its resident, Mr. Filippo Mazzei,
<br /> a native of Poggio a CaianO, Italy, and a friend of Thomas
<br /> Jefferson; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the community is proud of the friendship
<br />and association between Mr. Mazzei and Mr. Jefferson; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the community has learned that a delegation
<br />from Poggio a Caiano plans a visit in October, 1976;
<br />
<br />Resolution re:
<br />Bingo Permit - VFW
<br />
<br /> NOW BEFIT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Council of
<br />the City of Charlottesville,the Board of Supervisors of the
<br />County of Albemarle, and the Bicentennial Commission of the
<br />City and County, in behalf of the citizens of the community,
<br />extend to this delegation an official invitation and welcome
<br />to Charlottesvilte~and~Albemarle County, Virginia.

<br />On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the
<br />
<br />following resolution was unanimously adopted.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Post No. 1827 of the Vetrans of Foreign
<br />Wars has duly applied for a permit to conduct bingo~ parties
<br />in compliance with §17-19. of the Code of the City of
<br />Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that Post No. 1827
<br />of the Veterans of Foreign Wars meets the qualifictions as
<br />outlined in ~17-19;
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
<br />of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to Post No. 1827
<br />of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to conduct bingo parties in
<br />accordance with all the provisions of ~17-19 of the COde of
<br />the City of Charlottesville for a period of one year from the
<br />date of this resolution; and
<br />
<br /> BE IT EURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City
<br />of Charlottesville grants permission to Post No. 1827 of the
<br />Veterans of Foreign Wars to conduct turkey shoots on their
<br />property within the City limits for a period of one year from
<br />the date of this resolution; and
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council
<br />be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Post No. 1827
<br />of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

<br />Accepting Bid re:
<br />Health Department~
<br />
<br /> The City Manager advised the Council that bids had been
<br />
<br />received for enlarging and altering the Alhemarle-Charlottesville
<br />
<br />Health Center on Rose Hill Drive. He stated that R. E. Lee
<br />
<br />and Son submitted the lowest and best bid in the amount of
<br />
<br />$339,934 and recommended that the bid be accepted. On motion
<br />
<br />by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the foregoing recommendation
<br />
<br />was unanimously adopted.

<br />EFFECT OF TRANSFERS OF EMPLOYMENT ON RETIREb~NT ALLOWANCES,"

<br />which was offered at the meeting of the Council on August 16,
<br />1976, was adooted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr.
<br />Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien.
