Presentation re: Inter- Fraternity Council - UVA Staff Report re: OAR Staff Report re: Public Works Act ppropriation re: 3,000 - Pen Park Bus Route Appropriation re: $%~,099 - Joint Security Complex Mr. Don smith of the Inter-Fraternity Council addressed the Council and invited members of Council and the public to join the March of Dimes Walk-a-thon sponsored by the Inter- Fraternity Council and Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees to be held on Sunday, November 14, 1976. The Mayor commended and thanked Mr. Smith for his interest. A communication was oresented from the Direcn.or of Planning and Community Development stating that OAR has complied with the requirements of Council and recommended that the budgeted funds be released. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife the foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. The City 'Manager advised the Council that Charlottesville will orobably qualify for some of the funds under the Public Works Employment Act Title One and recommended possible projects to be included in a application which would best fit the grant requirements. )n motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife fhe City Manag ~r was authorized to submit an application for grading, widen~ing, and landscaping baseball and softball fields at Charl~ttesville High School for approximately $200,000.00 and const~tuction of a sedimentation pond-at the South Rivanna Water Treatrlent Plan for approximately $300,000.00. 7he City Manager advised the Council that it is possible the City .s eligible for funds under Title Two of the Public Works Emplo ~ent Act of 1976 Anti-Recession Fiscal Assistance. He state that this money can be used primarily for maintenance of basic services. This implies hiring of personnel previously ~ai~ ff or hiring ~'new personnel to maintain the basic City servi es and can also be used for some structural repairs and renow tion related to maintenance of basic services. Cn motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood, the City ~anager was authorized to sign a Statement of Assurance and submit a request to Title ,Two General Revenue Sharing. The resolutian appropriating $3,000.00 for expenses of operating the Pen Park bus route which was offered at the meeting of the Council on October 18, 1976 was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Gatewo~d and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. The resolution appropriating $1,099.00 for Joint Security Complex which was offered at the meeting of the Council on October 18, 1976 was adopted by the following recorded vote.
