Presentation re: Inter- <br />Fraternity Council - UVA <br /> <br />Staff Report re: OAR <br /> <br />Staff Report re: Public <br />Works Act <br /> <br />ppropriation re: <br /> 3,000 - Pen Park <br />Bus Route <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$%~,099 - Joint Security <br />Complex <br /> <br /> Mr. Don smith of the Inter-Fraternity Council addressed <br /> the Council and invited members of Council and the public to <br /> join the March of Dimes Walk-a-thon sponsored by the Inter- <br /> Fraternity Council and Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees to be <br /> held on Sunday, November 14, 1976. <br /> <br /> The Mayor commended and thanked Mr. Smith for his interest. <br /> A communication was oresented from the Direcn.or of Planning <br /> and Community Development stating that OAR has complied with the <br /> requirements of Council and recommended that the budgeted <br /> funds be released. On motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. <br /> Fife the foregoing recommendation was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> The City 'Manager advised the Council that Charlottesville <br /> will orobably qualify for some of the funds under the Public <br /> Works Employment Act Title One and recommended possible projects <br /> to be included in a application which would best fit the grant <br /> requirements. <br /> <br /> )n motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Fife fhe City <br /> Manag ~r was authorized to submit an application for grading, <br /> widen~ing, and landscaping baseball and softball fields at <br /> Charl~ttesville High School for approximately $200,000.00 and <br /> const~tuction of a sedimentation pond-at the South Rivanna Water <br /> Treatrlent Plan for approximately $300,000.00. <br /> <br /> 7he City Manager advised the Council that it is possible the <br /> <br /> City .s eligible for funds under Title Two of the Public Works <br /> <br /> Emplo ~ent Act of 1976 Anti-Recession Fiscal Assistance. He <br /> state that this money can be used primarily for maintenance of <br /> basic services. This implies hiring of personnel previously <br /> ~ai~ ff or hiring ~'new personnel to maintain the basic City <br /> servi es and can also be used for some structural repairs and <br /> renow tion related to maintenance of basic services. <br /> <br /> Cn motion by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Gatewood, the <br /> <br /> City ~anager was authorized to sign a Statement of Assurance <br /> <br /> and submit a request to Title ,Two General Revenue Sharing. <br /> <br /> The resolutian appropriating $3,000.00 for expenses of <br />operating the Pen Park bus route which was offered at the meeting <br />of the Council on October 18, 1976 was adopted by the following <br />recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br />Gatewo~d and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $1,099.00 for Joint Security <br />Complex which was offered at the meeting of the Council on October <br />18, 1976 was adopted by the following recorded vote.
