ResolUtion re: Raffle <br />Permit- Charlottesville <br />Family YMCA <br /> <br />Resolution re: Bingo <br />Permit - Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle Jaycees <br /> <br />1.75 <br /> <br /> BE RESOLVED that the following policies <br />and pro~ hencaforth be adhered to by the Council in <br />selecting the persons to be appointed to the Social ])evelopment <br />Commis s ion: - <br /> <br /> (1) The Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the <br />United Way, the Council of Churches and the Chamber of Commerce <br />and the Chairman of the City School Board will be asked to <br />nominate not more than three members of their respective boards <br />who are residents of the City; <br /> <br /> (2) The President of the University of Virginia will <br />be asked to nominate not more than three representatives of the <br />University administration who are residents of the City; <br /> <br /> (3) The Chairman of the Welfare Advisory Board will <br />be requested to nominate not more ahan six present or former <br />recipients of welfare services who are City residents, and the <br />Council will select two of such nominees for appointmenn to the <br />Commission; <br /> <br /> (4) The ranking student government officer at <br />Charlottesville High School will be asked to nominate not more <br />than three members of the student body; <br /> <br /> (5) The local Chapter of the American Association <br />of Retired Persons will be asked to nominate not more than three <br />of its members who reside in the City; <br /> <br /> (6) The President of the Student Council at the <br />University Of Virginia will be asked to nominate three members <br />of that body who have at least two years remaining in their <br />course of study and who are residents of the City; and <br /> <br /> (7) The Council will appoint two members of the City <br />Planning Commission to serve on the Social Development Commission. <br /> <br /> (8) The Council will consider the people so nominated <br />as well as other representatives of similar interests and may <br />also advertise vacancies on the Commission for applications <br />from interested citizens. As terms of members of the Commission <br />expire reappointments and replacements shall be sought in each <br />interest from the respective bodies or interests'groups from <br />which such appointments were originally made. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charlottesville Family YMCA has duly applied <br />for a permit to conduct raffles in compliance with §17-19 of the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ~t has been determined that Charlottesville <br />Family YMCA meets the qualifications as outlined in ~17-19; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the <br />Charlottesville Family YMCA to conduct raffles in accordance with <br />all the provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the City of <br />Charlottesville for a period of one year from the date of this <br />resolution; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Director <br />of the Charlottesville Family YMCA. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour the following <br /> <br />resolution was unanimously adoptedl <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees has duly <br />applied for a permit to conduct bingo parties in compliance with <br />§17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as <br />amended; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that Charlottesville- <br />Albemarle Jaycees meets the qualifications as outlined in §17-19; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to the <br />Charlottesville-Albemarle Jaycees to conduct bingo parties in <br />accordance with all the provisions of ~17-19 of the Code of the <br />City of Charlottesville for a period o~ one year from the date <br />of this resolution; and <br /> <br /> <br />
