Staff Report re: Training <br />Coordinator Pos ition <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$16,666.67 <br />Res,.ource Recovery <br />Study Cormniss ion <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$243,980 - Supple- <br />mental Appropriation <br />to close out 1975-76 <br />FY <br /> <br />Appropriation re: <br />$30,000 - Albemarle <br />Street Project <br /> <br />Consideration re: <br />Appropriation - <br />$26,000 - Washington <br />Park Swimming Pool <br /> <br /> The City Manager presented a staff report concerning the <br />resumption of the Training Coordinator position. The report <br />stated that the Training Coordinator Project emerged from the <br />Management and Skills Development Committee of the 1974-75 <br />Human Resources Assembly. It was designed to perform three <br />kinds of functions for personnel working within local human <br />services agencies: to identify in-service training needs <br />of a multiplicity of human service agencies; to mobilize <br />appropriate community resources to meet the identified <br /> <br />needs; and to incorporate these resources into training <br /> \ <br /> <br /> ,~' <br /> programs in order to meet the needs identz~.led initially. He <br /> stated there were three ways to finance the position: 1. <br /> CETA Funds, if available; 2. Public Works Title II Funds; <br /> 3. Could be funded by the City from local monies; and 4. <br /> Funded by City, but request using agencies to contribute to <br /> the cost. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded .by Mr. Barbour the <br /> City Manager was requested to make a specific recoLmnendation <br /> as to how the position should be funded. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $16,666.67 for the Resource <br /> Recovery Study Commission which was offered at the meeting of <br /> the Council on November 1, 1976, was adopted by the following <br /> recorded vote. Ayes~ Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, <br /> ~. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The resolution appropriating $243,980 to close out the <br /> 1975-'76 Fiscal Year accounts, which was offered at the meeting <br /> of the CounCil on November 1, 1976, was adopted by the <br /> following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, <br /> Mr. Fife, Mr~ Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> The matter of opening up Albemarle Street from Preston <br /> Avenue south or building a turn-a-round with steps down to <br /> Preston Avenue was again discussed. Mr. William Johnson and <br /> Rev. R. A. Johnson addressed the Council and strongly urged <br /> that the street be opened to one-way traffic. The appropriation <br /> appropriating $30,000 to construct a turn-a-round on Albemarle <br /> Street, which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> November 1, 1976, was adopted by the following recorded vote. <br /> Ayes: Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. <br /> Noes: Mr. Barbour. <br /> <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that a detailed <br /> inspection of the Washington Park Pool at the close of the <br /> swimming season revealed the following critical needs: 1. <br /> Replacement of filter tanks; 2. Repair and replacement of <br /> valves and meters; 3. Reoair of cracked tile on pool sides <br /> and bottom; 4. Caulking of pool bottom and deck; 5. <br /> Replacement of cholorine feed line; and 6. Repair of main <br /> <br /> <br />
